Hey guys, I'm planning on taking the two off the road soon for a turbo upgrade.
I'm planning on buying a whole kit rather than piecing parts together myself, I am aiming to make a reliable 250-275rwkw.
 
I've been thinking of buying the turbo kit and exhaust manifold through KO Racing or RacerX
 
The car currently has a stock Gen3 3SGTE with a PowerFC and I have a Walbro fuel pump.
 
My rough parts list at the moment is:
 
-All gaskets and seals
-Timing belt kit
-Water pump & oil pump
-5SFE crank machined down
-Eagle rods
-CP pistons
-ARP studs
-Camshafts, valves & springs
-Exedy HD clutch
 
I have a few queries in regards to what else I need to buy.
 
Do I need to go any larger than a GT3071R?
What size injectors are needed?
Will I need to buy a larger fuel rail and reg?
 
Is anyone running the KO Racing or Racer X turbo kit and have any complaints?

 *EDIT* Does anyone know how well the Gen4 3SGTE intake manifold flows compared to the Gen3? I have one in the shed I was planning to use. (I'm wanting an OEM look)
 
Also, are there any good places between Newcastle and Sydney for ceramic coating? I pretty much want everything coated.

Nice reasonable target which should result in a great driving car. Thoughts/recommendations:
 
I'd consider a different clutch though (twin plate if you can afford). The exedy's will suffice, but won't be very pleasant.
GT3071R - perfect, will comfortably hit the target whilst offering great response
Injectors - Sard 800cc in the standard Gen3 rail will be fine
Gen4 intake manifold prolly better flowing, but the main & important piece is it's side feed instead of the uneven factory Gen3 manifold (so use what's in your shed)
 
Can't comment on KO/RacerX but I suspect you'll be fine either way.
 
You didn't mentioned what intercooler setup you intend to use? Basically W2A or trunk mount.
Ignition - factory healthy Gen3 ignition should be approaching its limit, however it's not a must to upgrade. If you do, a simple HKS Twin Power should be good (otherwise COP, MSD etc etc).
 
Ceramic coating, can't help you there but I'm sure your mechanic would know someone.

I want to go W2A, preferably using a frozenboost barrel type located above the gearbox to keep intake piping to a minimum. I was considering tucking the intercooler away in fwd left corner of the engine bay (like your setup) but I'm interested in the RacerX intake group buy on MR2OC (which is very similar to the ARC intake).

I'm pretty sure someone had the gen4 manifold flow tested on mr2oc
The 800cc injectors will be enough as long as you dont go E85
I wouldn't worry about trying to keep the piping to the absolute minimum, just get the best IC you can

Good specs for the build you're trying to achieve. 
 
I really didn't notice much difference between the side feed caldina manifold and the gen3 one, but like MR2QIK mentioned, you eliminate the uneven flow of the gen3 where cylinder 3 always seems to get less air than the others. + you get the added bonus of it being much easier to change spark plugs lol
 
I've got a Berk kit on mine and it works fine, haven't had any experience with KO or Racer X. I still recommend Full-Race exhaust manifolds over anything else, as their build quality is just amazing, and given the susceptibility of exhaust manifolds to crack, its definitely what i would go if i were to upgrade mine from just an adaptor plate.
 
Gen3 fuel rail will suffice for 800cc injectors, which will suffice for pump fuel. if you're going to E85, then you would have to get something chunkier.

I purchased a KO Racing GT35R turbo kit for my previous car and would not hesitate to buy another from them.
Complete bolt on solution with high quality parts. They are very helpful with support via email as well. Very responsive.
Me personally I would buy KO over Berk & ATS.
