So I have had a few days off over the Christmas / New Year break which has given me time to get a few things done on the MR2 that I have been wanting to get done for quite some time now. The MR2 got a couple of christmas presents so I spent a couple of days working on it whilst I had the time to, I had been wanting to go through the entire cooling system on the car and replace all the hoses and the kit I wanted had been out of stock for a while but it finally arrived.
I got a full silicon hose kit from Stoney Racing in the UK which was a fairly large kit and replaces almost every hose in the car so I will now have some piece of mind when on trips that I shouldn't have a hose burst due to the age of the old hoses. I started off by doing a cooling system flush to try to remove some of the built up rubbish from the cooling system and then proceeded to strip out all of the old hoses and replace them with the new silicon hoses and new clamps, after I had all the hoses in I then ended up running two more coolant flushes through until I was satisfied with how clean the flush was coming out.
I also ordered some nice new floor mats for the car to replace the crappy rubber ones that were in the car since I bought it, Olivia had been at me to get rid of the other ones for a while and I had intended to but just always seemed to find other areas of the car that I wanted to improve first but anyway I finally got the new ones and am very happy with how they look and fit.
The other update to the car which I did do a little while back but just had not got around to adding to the thread was the addition of a new head unit, I was using a JVC single din unit which was a good unit and I was happy with but I wanted to update it to a double din unit and something that also had built in GPS I ended up going with the Sony XAV-712NAV I also wanted this unit because I liked the idea of mirror link and I thought I would be able to display most of the things from my phone on the display of the head unit but as it turns out the mirror link is not quite as useful as I had hoped and is also not compatible with iPhone so that side of things was of no use.
this was my old unit,
This is what replaced it,
I also run one of the USB inputs back into the compartment between the seats and this is where I connect my iPod or iPhone depending on what I want to listen to, this unit also runs Pandora so if I connect my iPhone I can use Pandora through the head unit.
So that was what I got up to over the last few days
