Hey all,

I have been having major turbo issues since i bought my sw20 a few years back, after rebuilding the 20g/ct26 hybrid turbo that came with the car twice already and has now completely blown again after only 3000km I am now looking for a replacement. I am looking at the kinugawa turbos as have had good results with them on my evo's in the past. They can offer a ct26 CHAR with either standard compressor wheel & housing or a 60-1 garret/ct26 hybrid for the same price... $615. My question is... seems I have never run my car with the standard ct26 what are they like? should i just go with the upgrade or keep it standard? I use for daily driver and a little fun here and there and only run 15psi.

thanks

Why do you keep blowing turbo's, whats actually going on them? Are you rebuilding these yourself or something?
If your only running 15 pounds boost, no use putting a larger compressor, it will just be more laggy. Get a CT20b, will spool faster and is good for 15psi.

Turbo was destroyed due to the oil feed line being bent and slightly crimped, I already have braided aftermarket one ordered.

so you would seriously buy a used unknown condition ct20 over a new ct26 for the same price? sounds risky to me, i cant find any new ct20's anywhere... there must be a reason no one makes them anymore...

A used CT20b sounds perfect for what you want it for. Pretty much instant boost and boost to redline. These will support up to 200rwkw easily with supporting bolt ons.

A $600 China turbo with a 60-1 wheel would be utter crap on a 3sgte. And possibly last as long as your previous turbos.
The 60-1 CT26 works okay on a Supra (6cyl) but not a 3s.

yeah defiantly thinking of standard turbos now, so my choice now is between new standard ct26 or 2nd hand ct20... are the ct20's twin scroll? same dump etc..?

Yes twin scroll, not exactly same dump but gen2 dump will work. Go ct20b. I hate the ct26 with a passion. Spool is good, falling over well before redline isn't.
