Hey everyone!

Due to an oil pump failure I killed my built gen 2 motor

I have since brought a Gen 4 from a caldina for a reasonable price.

My old motor had lots of mods, 264 cams, ferrea valves, HKS springs, CP pistons, Eagle rods, exhaust man, GTX3076r and Jun manifold.

I know that because the oil pump died and the noise then bottom end was making that most of these parts are dead or worn.

I plan on putting the eagle rods, ferrea valves, HKS valve springs and probably new pistons into the caldina engine, but I don't know much about the GEN 4 so I have a few questions:

What MLS headgaskets fits the GEN 4?
Are the gen 2/3/4 HKS cams the same?
Are pistons and rods the same?
Valves / Springs?

Does anyone know where I can get topfeed fuel rail for a GEN 4? I am sure my old SARD topfeed rail will not fit, I also need to find a T3 exhuast manifold.

Has anyone done the caldina engine conversion? is there anything I should be aware of? I am going to use a haltech so I am not worried about wiring.

Gen4 already has a top feed rail.

I am aware of that, but what is the flow of the rail like? My old motor was close to 300kw and I want to hit that number with the new engine.

itll be fine.

you can use the exh cam from gen2/3, but the intake cam needs the trigger wheel for the cas on the end. dunno if you could mod your hks cam to suit.

I guess youll buy a genuine gasket kit. the hg is metal and same as gen3

Thanks,

I know that TRD MLS gaskets seal really well, how about the OEM gasket? will it be as reliable?

Does anyone make drop in 264 or 272 cams for the GEN 4?

Last of all the sump, will it fit with no problems in the SW20?

Cams in the gen4 would be shimless vs the Gen2 which isn't.

Gen3 cams fit then gen4 3S AFAIK.

I would not have thought that shim vs shim-less would have not made a difference in cams, only when adjusting clearances.

just means you can run higher lift, gen2 cams generally are lower in lift, I dunno if hks had low and hi lift variants.

kelford may make them. I know a guy that got a custom set from them for his caldina.

sump is the same essentially as gen3 for clearance. so no issues there.

std head gasket is fine also.

Gen 4 is shim under bucket, not shimless, same as the gen 3.  Gen 3 rail should also work on the caldina, I think.  I made my own rail to suit the caldina head but as previously mentioned standard rail is top feed and has reasonable capacity.  Headgasket pretty much the same as gen 3, I ran with an apexi gasket as I liked it for a number of reasons.  I've still got a spare laying around.

Intake cam does require the crank angle sensor fitted.  I bought a set of kelford high lift cams and modifed them to suit, required turning down of the end of the camshaft to accept the trigger arm.  Kelford probably can do you a custom one but they were god awful at answering even simple questions for me, so I don't have alot of faith in getting too much out of them!

Pistons, rods, valves etc all interchangeable.
