Hi guys,

The seals in my CT26 (rev II, japanese import, 1992) have gone and I'm burning lots of oil.

I'm looking to get the turbo rebuilt or replaced, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm in Melbourne. Eastern turbo's quoted me about $1000 for a rebuild.  do and exchange for about $600 but they have none at the moment.

I'm also not sure if I should buy a used turbo, seems like a bit of a gamble to me.

The car is  stock and I'm not sure I want to start modifying it.

Cheers.

If you want to go the used route,

I've got a ct26 $150 and a ct20 $700 for sale. The ct26 was good as far as I know and the ct20 was bought from gorilla industries but never installed as part of a planned upgrade.

Most people would agree the ct20 is a good bolt on upgrade for early mr2's.

Pm me for more info

Hey RHOK I think I've seen you on Netrider, you had a R1 and developed wheel lights right?

I'm looking for a stock turbo, not going to chase more power in this car. Does anyone know what a Supra compressor wheel might do:

There's also these aftermarket turbos but I don't know if they can be trusted:

And in either case I think I'd prefer a rebuilt CT26. Just have to find someone in Melbourne that will do it.

I know a few guys that have used Precision Turbo in Wetherill Park (NSW) with good results, their pricing is very fair, might be worth looking into as it might be cheaper to send your turbo to them for a rebuild, $1000 for a rebuild is crazy

Thanks mate I'll give them a call if the other local shops are quoting me that much too.

Hi
I have an MR2 and recently did some work on the turbo. Its basically a CT26 hot side and a GT3076 cold side and cartridge. Work was done at GCG in Sydney

So ATP quoted me a very good price for a rebuild. I'm going to go with that, as much as I'd love about 200rwkw my particular MR2 needs a lot of things sorted before I start chasing power.

Go to a truck turbo service center like MTQ and you can get a seal kit for very little dollars and do it yourself. They are cheeper over all for work then performance shops if can not do it yourself. Can even try 4x4 Drive workshop.
