99% sure its only a Rev 2 Engine, remember pictures of it when it was on gumtree.
Fact it had no AC (it was all stripped apparently) turned me away.

Great looking car regardless.
ANZ Velvets (the wheels) really suit the MR2

Im really likeing the rims. Rims seem to be a bit of hit and miss on mr2's. I did find the car on gumtree but there where no pics up. They said aircon didnt work, but i seem to get semi cold air out of it.

ct26 is def the turbo thats on there at the moment. If we forget about the ct20b, what other turbos would provide i nice upgrade? and what ecu would you suggest on buying?  are the power fc's any good on the 3s or would you suggest something different

only got my phone for pics but heres the engine

Thats the earlier Gen2 motor. Looks like the turbo has had something done to it by Turbotech, why dont you call them and see what they did to it?

The old motor in current car had a highflowed ct26 and it went very well up top, huge improvement.

Cheers

Wow thats a lot of coin just on the turbo...
Best bang for buck now IMO is upgrade the stock sidemount IC to a bigger core + thermo fan.

yeh, JTW aren't the best mob. the motor's not form a 95. it's a rev1 gen2 so from 89-91.

what boost you running? if the turbo has been hiflowed it should pull thru over 6500rpm. stock ct26 and cams you'll notice a lack of power over 5500rpm.

go see wtfauto in kelmscott for specialist mr2 work. (ph63962140)

i wouldn't advise puching the stock 20yr gen2 motor to 300rwhp.

decent turbo to get you there is a gt2860rs. my freind with a gt4 recently had his gt4 engine rebuilt, 264 cams and gt2860 net him 277hp@16psi run in tune. you with only having to drive 2 wheels=less drivetrain loss. once he ups the boost he'll be @ 300hp with 20psi

Dudeman
JTW - nice details on the invoice.

Hope everyone takes note of that.

here is the actual receipt. If its a first gen that could cause an issue for me, as i just orded a set of silicon replacement hoses for 93-99 mode enginel. How different is the rev1 to later model with the rad hoses?

Turbo is set at 12psi at the moment, running a manual boost controller, but ill be swapping it out for an electronic one soon. I havent really payed much attention to the turbo as ive never been in a car with normal or highflowed, so i dont know the difference. when you say pull thru over 6500rpm, do you mean maintain 12psi over 6500rpm?

And MrTurbo, thanks for the link, going to follow some of the advice there on mod order

With the 'stock' CT26, boost (power) will drop off after 5,500 rpm, so basically a CT20b or 'high flowed' CT26 should hold boost to at least  ~6,500 rpm.

No worries, here's another link that I think is also useful: http://www.mrcontrols.com/primers/power.htm

i don't think there's much to worry about with the hoses. pretty sure someone else has used rev3+ hoses on earlier without dramas.

well looks like JTW shafted the dude that had the motor installed.

so what actual yr model is your mr2? was it orig NA?
