Hai all! Just sold my Onevia and brought this sexy hardtop Mr2. Ended up getting it for 7k. Also got paperwork going back to when it was imported in 2004. Car dosent have many mods at the moment, and sadly isint as fast as my old onevia, but theres nothing a little time and money cant fix :P
 
On that note. What mods should i do? i have around 7k to dump into this car. what would you guys do? alas my knowledge on mr2's is not as good as the sils :P

As for mods I'd be putting in some sway bar reinforcement plates and a V6 :D

I was pretty happy with my deal :P The guy who i got it from had it just sitting for a while (was surface rust on the rotors) and one of the rad hoses has a split it in. Know where i can get a set of red replacement hoses in aus? cant really drive it much without them :P Other then that the thing drives great!
 
I honestly did think about doing the v6 conversion. But i was wondering if it was actually worth it? I figured i could spend 7k on the 3sgte and get more out of it then spending 7k doing a v6 conversion. But feel free to prove me wrong :P

If you've already got a 3sgte you'd be crazy to do a v6 conversion I think.

i was after some aftermarket red silicon Rad hoses.
 
Im thinking first thing ill want to do is go larger turbo, and get some cams. But this is about the extent of my knowled on the 3sgte. Is the ct20b a decent upgrade over the ct26?
 
Eventually i want to get this car to around 300rwhp, but my knowledge is lacking with the 3s on how to get there. i figure turbo/cams/injecters+rail/ecu/fuelpump. What are the stock internals good for?

Since I have it next to me, according to a book called "Toyota MR2 Performance" by Terry Heick 275whp is the upper limit of the stock 3SGTE for the US engines. You could prob get away with 300 if it's gen 3 motor. After that if you want more power everything gets really expensive for balanced upgrades, not just engine.
For 7k I'd prob get good service, exhaust, sussy, tyres, decent pads/fluid, water injection, intercooler, strut/sways and hit up the tracks :D
CT20B is a good tubby from what I hear should be good for your power target but someone else should really chime in since I don't have one lol let alone a working MR2

If its the 95 3sgte it should have the ct20 already.  With a free flow exhaust and intake they are quite decent.  I wouldn't go v6, just mod what you have if you want more mumbo.

CT20b, hi flow exhaust, decent intake, fuel pump/injectors - get rid of the AFM and get a decent ECU to tune it - cams aren't necessary....should net you within the 200rwkw mark. Any further and you'd want to have some cash ready.
 
CT26 is a nugget, spools up nice and hard but has nothing up top. CT20b lags a touch more but has more punch up top, still not great.

Very nice SW you've got yourself there...
Like others have said the 'CT20b' turbo is a worthwhile upgrade (if it hasn't been done already) as it'll hold boost to the redline. Basically a bolt on job. Also a 'MAP-ECU' will allow you to delete your AFM, if you wish, and allow you to tune ignition/AFRs, while maintaining the factory safeguards. Also get some means of controlling boost either by a ball and spring type manual boost controller or a decent EBC.
At least it should put the power down better than your old "onevia" :P

If its the Gen3 engine, it wont have AFM and they come with ct20 standard.
