So I have a nice little road trip planned which begins on the 14th of this month. I'll be covering over 7,000kms and a few thousand of that will be in remote Australia. I want to piece together a small toolkit from my collection to take with me and would love suggestions of tools I should be taking in case I have missed anything.
 
So far I have:
 
- 3/4 Ratchet with sockets to match (Sizes: 8mm, 10mm, 12mm,14mm) - 4 inch extension and 1 X uni to match.
- 150mm Shifting spanner
- Philips head screw driver and flat head screw driver
- 300mm pry bar
- Jack and Handle of course
- LED worklight
- 200mm Multigrip pliers
- Pointy Nose Pliers
- Multimeter 
- Breaker bar and socket for lug nuts
- Roll of Duct Tape (in case of roo's and I have to do a roadside body job...)
 
does anyone have any suggestions on tools that could be added, taken out or swapped?....

Hi Treay,
I presume that you meant to say 1/4 inch drive Ratchet.
I reckon that I would also take 10, 12 & 14 mm spanners with open end & ratchet end.
With your Multigrips, are you thinking Vise Grips ?
I would think about a claw hammer, but that starts to get heavy & bulky.
I presume that you have a knife or Leatherman else where.
In my tool wrap I also carry a chain saw sharpening file. Strange, but they can be useful.

Spanners, zipties, Swiss army knife, satellite phone. AN spanners of used and a can of that tyre foam gear.

An assortment of cable ties! You can never have too many cable ties with you.  

More of a glovebox than toolkit thing, but... Microfibre towels!

Tie wire and side cutters.

CABLE TIES!, how the hell did i not think of packing cable ties!. They basically hold the mine I work at together, of course I need cable ties!!. 
 
All excellent suggestions. I was refering to Multigrips as I like their versatility. but I certainly was meaning to state 1/4 ratchet haha.
 
I was umming and arghing over spanners... but now you've mentioned it I wouldn't dare leave them behind as I know this would be a recipe for disaster, so i'll pack them.

I have a few leathermen, I carry one in each car without fail. 

I've only got the big cans of WD40 so I might call up to Superexpensive tomorrow and see if they have those small cans of WD40... might fit in my little toolbox better. 

As far as the satellite phone goes, I don't have one at hand, but in all honesty I should think about buying one given the big kilometres I drive and very remote places I visit. I will however have 2 hand held radios with me, these are pretty good in an emergency. (taking them so me and a mate can chat while on the road through the head sets!. total Smokey and the Bandit style haha)

Personally I would go 3/8 ratchet and add 17,19

Critical tool kit pieces - two inch piece of electrical cable with ends stripped, flare blade fuses 10, 20, 30. Multi use wire: any issues on the road bridge te1 and e1 in diagnostics for engine fault codes, if fuel pump relay faults you can bridge the pump to run on high, and other uses.
