Gatesys SW20
Hey guys I sold my Na last Friday to a great bloke from Sydney he was so in love with it I'm glad it's going to a mature driver (he's 27) that will appreciate and keep it healthy :)

So what did I do
Went and bought a turbo mr2 the same day lol
I had been looking at a few 8-10k decent built
But then one close to home caught my eye 6k Na 92 jap import hardtop with a gen 2 3sgte and e153 gearbox out of Japan 40k on engine and gbox
138xxx on the dash
Everything seemed good paint was immaculate, drove great on and off boost, few dodgy things
Missing front wheel arch guards few other things and a few rattles
Still original shocks from Japan 4 way adjustable shocks
So probably in need of replacing soon but apart from that fresh engine and gearbox I was in love the rest i can and will fix :)
Then I found out it had been written off in 2000 one year after it was imported
So went to the rta found out it was repaired and re registered and was all sweet,
Had a mechanic and a panel beater go over it,
No structural damage so must not have been major,
So I bought it regardless of that
Brang her home for 5k

I had been looking at it for the past two weeks did every check under the sun and was sweet
Apart from the stupid sunroof they ruined the hardtop with the rest was sweet.

Ok so the car:
Stock 1992 jap import Na with a gen 2 turbo conversion done.
Only aftermarket thing is the manual boost controller thingo is set to peak at 12 and hold boost at 10 pounds
It also has the turbo brake swap aswell.

Under the oil cap bare metal not any gunk to be seen,

So
In the first day if owner ship I:
Cleaned it head to toe, polish and waxed it,
Greased every suspension bush, control arm, hub, and anything else I could find I think needed lubrication,
Adjusted the clutch pedal so instead of biting at 1cm off the floor it was a pretty even top-middle bite
Vacuumed it, armour all the dash.
Had a wheel alignment done
And found the source of a few rattles and squeaks

Tomorrow I pick up a few spares for it
Turbo grill
Turbo boot and spoiler
Turbo rear bar
Na cat back
Few other bits and pieces

Plans for it ATM
Leave it stock, I can legally drive it
Applied for an exemption,
Live out of home only car I can drive etc
So it's staying stock,
Ill put a stock knob on it and maybe gearboot, get a decent steering wheel, perhaps stock aswell
Tidy the interior up a bit
New speakers in the rear
Arch guards
Put the RP01s back on when I need tyres
New suspension and bushes :)

But once I'm off p plates
Over haul the engine and gearbox
And try and get 200-230atw

Ill post some pics up

Any questions just ask. :)

Well lets see some pics.

Brakes are the same na and turbo. Only difference is early and late.
There is no difference between bumper, spoiler and boot

Pics will be up once I'm home my iPhone wont upload them unless someone cares to help direct me how to?

And sorry should have been more descriptive

The spoiler and boot on it ATM has a crack in the spoiler and the boot dosnt sit right

So the donor boot and spoiler are in a lot better condition

And the brakes from what I remember look bigger then the ones on my Na both calipers and disks
Could be mistaken tho

Well done!

I went from an NA (Auto) to a Turbo (Manual). I was a little worried for a bit they would feel like similar cars to drive day to day but they are a world apart.

Hope to see some pictures and look forward tothe build.

So you now have a turbo! Congrates Ethan.
Talk to Travis about the big brake kit conversion. Will be the best performance mod you can do. Ian's car is brilliant to drive with this set up, Peter is also doing the same (with my help from what I can understand..).
If the shocks are a four way adjustable unit, have these rebuilt to suit your car. You will need corner weights od the car, correct spring rates( I will PM these), tyre choice. Four way units are the top of the range so do not sell these. If you do, call me!But seriously, you need to have these rebuilt.
Great to see your keeping the engine stock as it does not need mods. If anything, go with cooling management and leave the rest.
Hope to see you at the track soon.

They won't be four WAY adjustable, they will just have 4 settings, I am pretty sure.
