SC14 running near it's thermal limit of 12.5K - RPM - possible to get 18 - 20 PSI

I'll take a stab at the power and say 140rwkw.
 
But it also depends on cam lift and compression. Are you going to change the throttle body at all??

Cams - 8.1mm lift.
 
Not sure about the throttle body yet - may try things with the OEM one first and if that doesn't give me the HP I'm after then will start changing things ..
 
My target is - 200 RWKW .. maybe optimistic but never mind...
 
Progress today - Slow and steady .. Engine assembly..
The guy who was MEANT to come and take the windscreen out never turned up - so no sand blasting of the body this weekend - bugger! - a weeks delay..
 
Wont be able to do too much more on the motor until I get the intercooler from PWR and the Haltech sensors...
 
 

A quick update... I have the wolf ecu, and just picked up my Rotrex C30-84 supercharger kit from bullet performance.
Got some really nice 600 cc injectors from efi industries that it the factory fuel rail. PWR are fabricating my intercooler set up and I have a custom intake manifold being built. It will be running an S90-70 throttle body to feet the beast.
Ive spent a heap of time designing the Rotrex brackets in cad and had it all laser cut today..
Task for the weekend is fitting the supercharger
Btw: estimate power based on software predictions..... 300+ @ wheels! @ 20 psi... The Rotrex will spin to 28! But I am running a smaller pulley...initially....:)

What are you going to do with the sc14 you bought?? Correct me if i'm wrong, but generally the smaller the pulley on a supercharger, the faster it spins and the more boost it makes, so surely you mean your going to start off with a larger pulley?

The SC14 will find a new home. I have decieded to go with a Rotrex C30-84. This is a new technology supercharger that is more efficient than turbo!! - so it requires less HP to drive than the loss in HP as a result of exhaust restriction of a turbo.. It has a very high RPM (120,000) with a drive ration of about 9.6:1. end result is that on a 90 mm pully (SC Side), I run a standard pully on the engine and that will take the SC to 12500 RPM at engine redline. I am running a slightly larger pully on the SC to reduce this to about 11000 RPM and also running a restrictor initially to keep boost in the low 20's.
I'll post pics later today of the Rotrex fitted... Might even make my cad drawings available if anyone else is interested in going this route....
 

I was hoping that the supercharger installation would be simple - it would be if I had to do it all again, but my original design had the supercharger about 10mm too wide so it would be a case of either re-designing the bracket or, chopping into the back of the engine bay... I went for the former and re-designed the bracket and I am glad I did as the result is really good.
 
If you look at the photo you may think that the idler wheel is to close with too much wrap but there is a purpose to this. The Rotrex really needs a PK8 over a 160 degree wrap - pretty standard and about the same as the OEM SC setup in the AW11. To run a PK8 I would have needed to have a custom crank pulley made, modified the Air Cond compressor bracket and alternator bracket. I would have needed a new pulley on the water pump too - and then there is the issue with clearance between the pulley and the body.. So the reason I have run an Idler way up was to get as close to a 270 degree wrap on the supercharger as possible, and I have done that !... so I can run a PK5 belt (albeit a bloody expensive one).. and a factory OEM pully from a NA car (slightly smaller than the OEM SC Car).. The bearing in the idler has been replaced with a high RPM HIGH axle load type. The Rotrex has a max shaft RPM of 12,600 RPM and I am initially running a 100mm Pulley. With the factory 145 mm unit and a 7,500 redline this means I will be running a max RPM of 10,875 RPM  that is an internal RPM of 103,571 RPM. Doing a stack of calculations I have come up with a theoretical 1.8 bar (26psi)..
 
The Rotrex is a brilliant supercharger and to my knowledge no one has fitted one to an AW11 until now. (BTW It's standard fitment to the Koneggsssiiisssiiisiiisisiseeee) It's set up ready for the PWR Air to Water Intercooler - I have PWR fabricating a custom heat exchanger which will fit together with the SC oil cooler and mount with a 300 x 300 footprint in the OEM Intercooler position.
 
I also managed to get a nice set of high flow injectors that have just been released by Denso - these are a direct replacement of the OEM injectors expect with a 500cc rate @ 41psi - good for quite a few hundred pony’s... (they are yellow and visible in the pic)
 
Intake is being designed (not by me – by someone who is an expert in the area) .. and I am hoping will be here soon..
Paint is meant to be next weekend, but I will have to postpone the spray booth – I’m a few weeks away and want to ‘dry’ fit the engine first.

After consultation with Bullet Supercars who supplied the Rotrex, I have replaced the 100mm pulley with a 90mm to bring boost up by about 5 psi (peek estimate will be 28 psi), and also I have changed the 70mm idler wheel for a 60mm to reduce the tight radius turns.. Hoprfully there wont be any adverse heat build up..
 
I have installed all the oil cooler lines - and retro-fitted the later 4AGE oil cooler filter hub and modified the sump to take a return line. The early (86) 4AGZE's did not have oil cooling... It may not be necessary, but I fitted it up anyway ..
 
PWR have the oil cooler for the supercharger and are fabricating a 'special' heat exchanger for the intercooler that incorporates the SC oil cooler. They dont have an off the shelf unit so will design and make it - Apparently there is a new type of core where the fins are half the distance appart as the normal ones ... nearly twice the price too, but massively efficient.
 
I'm still going through the process of designing and testing the intake manifold. Space is the issue here as I want to keep it 'stock' looking.. Will be running  a S90 - 70 mm throttle body - this is an upgrade for the R34 Skyline! (as much as it hurts me as I hate skylines... except the R35 - maybe it's the people who drive them!!!! :) -) ...
 
BTW - I'm not going to paint the car myself as originally planned - I will do the ghost stripes and airbrush work.. but it's getting professionally done ...I figure when you spend near $15K on the motor, $5k on interior and another $5K on other bits, I might as weel spend the $ on the paint to look good...
 
This car cost me a tad over $2500.. when finished it would have cost me close to $35k..... I won't be trying to sell it ....
 
And since no one has really had a crack at HP estimates .. I can tell you the aim is 350 hp... and yes this has been professionally calculated and is totally possible ..although initially it will be de-tuned to around the 300 mark... Still, it sould be quick (as long as I can show those bloody HSY utes with Chevrolet badges my tail lights I will be happy!)..

Progress Report ... Finally fabrication orders are starting to come in... In these pics you can see the induction loop is nearly complete... I will start with the intercooler.  I didn't want to compromise comforts (I'm in my 40's after all) - so removing the front air cond condenser was not an option, I spoke with the guys (Adam) at PWR who had a custom narrow mesh heat exchanger designed and built to my specs - the overall size is exactly the same as the OEM intercooler except it is bot a heat exchanger and incorporates my Setrab oil cooler for the Rotrex. The whole unit has a custom Craig Davies pusher fan underneath (remember air goes up through the IC on and out the bonnet - not the other way. The barrel is good for many horsies! ... The Narrow mesh is quite a bit more expensive than the standard, but is twice as efficient (the red bull F1's don't seem to overheat so must be ok)..
The Custom designed intake man is a work of art too - nice trumpeted velocity stacks all polished and smooth inside - should provide a bit more puff than the standard spaghetti tube. This is fed via the S90 70mm throttle body.. It’s an after market unit for an EVO 6 – had all the right specs for me. Sard Fuel pressure reg and all Teflon braid hose with speedflow fitting all round.
I reconditioned the air cond compressor and alternator with new bearings so they should be good for a few more k’s. I am thinking about a new exhaust manifold, however I might keep the OEM one until I get the thing running.
 
All the upholstery is being done, including head liner, doors, dash and carpets – black leather with a steel blue thread and MR2 Supercharged embroidery in the headrest – should be nice.
 
It’s all painted on the inside and in the engine bay, boot front and back and I am waiting for the paint shop to get back to me so I can get it to them.
 
I still haven’t settled on suspension, but I am leaning towards Tien Custom coil overs.
 
Exedy are putting a clutch set together for me as they do not have anything off the shelf that will handle the calculated HP – no even their top of the line race-ceramic. Will be interesting to see what they come back with.
 
I want to get the GB overhauled – Does anyone know of or can recommend somewhere in Bris that will do a really good job ??? including a full clean of the case??
