Progress Report ... Finally fabrication orders are starting to come in... In these pics you can see the induction loop is nearly complete... I will start with the intercooler. I didn't want to compromise comforts (I'm in my 40's after all) - so removing the front air cond condenser was not an option, I spoke with the guys (Adam) at PWR who had a custom narrow mesh heat exchanger designed and built to my specs - the overall size is exactly the same as the OEM intercooler except it is bot a heat exchanger and incorporates my Setrab oil cooler for the Rotrex. The whole unit has a custom Craig Davies pusher fan underneath (remember air goes up through the IC on and out the bonnet - not the other way. The barrel is good for many horsies! ... The Narrow mesh is quite a bit more expensive than the standard, but is twice as efficient (the red bull F1's don't seem to overheat so must be ok)..
The Custom designed intake man is a work of art too - nice trumpeted velocity stacks all polished and smooth inside - should provide a bit more puff than the standard spaghetti tube. This is fed via the S90 70mm throttle body.. It’s an after market unit for an EVO 6 – had all the right specs for me. Sard Fuel pressure reg and all Teflon braid hose with speedflow fitting all round.
I reconditioned the air cond compressor and alternator with new bearings so they should be good for a few more k’s. I am thinking about a new exhaust manifold, however I might keep the OEM one until I get the thing running.
All the upholstery is being done, including head liner, doors, dash and carpets – black leather with a steel blue thread and MR2 Supercharged embroidery in the headrest – should be nice.
It’s all painted on the inside and in the engine bay, boot front and back and I am waiting for the paint shop to get back to me so I can get it to them.
I still haven’t settled on suspension, but I am leaning towards Tien Custom coil overs.
Exedy are putting a clutch set together for me as they do not have anything off the shelf that will handle the calculated HP – no even their top of the line race-ceramic. Will be interesting to see what they come back with.
I want to get the GB overhauled – Does anyone know of or can recommend somewhere in Bris that will do a really good job ??? including a full clean of the case??
