Anyone bought CRW (Chico Race Works) upgraded axle cage kit for an SW20? I purchased a set in November 2014 and have just got around to opening the package to install. They look identical to the cages already in my car.

Also the ages in the purchased kit are decidedly second hand to the point of even having old pieces of gasket adhered to them.  Also some quite heavy hammer marks on the cages which appears to have happened when the cages were assembled. Various websites selling tyhese kits make no mention of them being second hand.

Anyone had similar experience or have installed these kits?

*Note: this does require the return of your old axle shafts for rebuilding to avoid a core charge.
So that makes sense they're not brand new...

I grabbed a whole upgrade which included the cage, bearings and outer housing. All looked pretty new to me. (This was the the inner CV's).

I agree, they do look pretty identical to the standard CV's, so they must be a different alloy to give them the strength. Mine certainly didn't have any gaskets half attached to them.

Cheers.

I am talking only about the axle cages, not axles. I think think the koracing advert is for when you may require the new cages to be fitted for you

Yes. I got the whole package too. Sourced direct from Chico Race Works in the USA. As well as pieces of gasket there were some quite hefty "hammer" marks that looked they may have been applied when assembling the cages. These are definitely second hand or "remanufactured" as I will probably be told from the supplier

I think ATS make them too. Maybe they do it differently to CRW.

Well a few friends of mine ordered the ats & had problems with fitment. Ended up having them sent back for replacement.

Can DeltaV or someone make local quality versions.

What sort of 'fitment' issues?  I had ATS racing items in my car and installed them in a few cars.  Far from straight forward install, infact, very painful to get them installed correctly.  The only component that is any different to standard in any of these kits is the bearing cage.

I'm curious to know what didn't quite fit. The CRW ones I had fit perfectly as a kit, I just wish I got a bit more grease with it.

The bearings weren't correct on an ATS one that was delivered here. They would simply fall out.
