I am curious to know how many of the regular tracked MR2 cars with Gen 2 engines are running a relocated oil filter kit.  I imagine running one would make it difficult to retain the factory a air conditioner compressor in the usual location.  I understand why these kits are used and would like to here opinions, Pros and Cons.

Aircon and track car don't work together

Aircon and sw20 don't work together ;)

Mine is relocated. It moves the filter away from a very hot part of the engine and you can use a larger filter like the z9. I also have an oil cooler core that is in the same place as the stock intercooler to cool the oil nicely.

Thanks Guys.  Gives me more confidence now.  Alex are you also running without Aircon installed like Glenn?

I also know Robk is running remote oil filter but not sure if he has Aircon installed.  I want to see if both are possible on a Gen 2 engine.

Also good luck to all attending MTC2017.  Would very much like to have been part of this event.

In my previous SW20 MR2 (heavily modified gen 2 3sgte with A/C) I did run an external oil cooler in the stock intercooler location.

In saying that I didn't do a remote filter, I used a GREX/Greddy oil sandwich plate (pictured below) with built in thermostat (plus the regular filter screwed on top. It all fit with the A/C compressor.

Is your question around the oil piping coming from such a sandwich plate fouling the A/C compressor?

No A/C for me Richard, it was broken anyway so we ditched it

Sorry for the late replay.  Computer problems.

Yes.  I discovered the remote oil filter is an Earl's kit that can be seen in this picture.

And again here

I would like very much to fit the standard SW20 Air conditioning compressor to this new Gen 2 engine and can see that the dump pipe may be another issue.

So next question "Is anyone running air cond with a after market dump pipe"
Main reason I want the compressor is to experiment with getting intake temps down and doing away with an intercooler.

Richard pretty much all those aftermarket dump pipes (for CT26/CT20b) are designed around avoiding the A/C compressor. You will definitely need to relocate that remote oil filter mount though.

That motor looks new, what happened to the old st205 engine?

What ex manifold/turbo setup does that Gen2 engine have? It appears to be the factory cast manifold with I'm guessing a ct20b/ct26
