I love the feeling of the sudden surge of power the car makes and I'm after more of that. While having more HP is great I'm after more torque... I was considering a CT20b turbo swap but reading mixed reviews so I think I'll pass on that... I found a part from racerx. They have this Center Feed Intake Manifold which apparently increase HP and torque (around 40HP and 30torque)...

Anyone have this or know anything about it? Is it worth it for gen 2 with just bolt on mods? The only draw back that I can see is that it moves the throttle body forward so new throttle cable is required

On a basic engine, you'd be better off getting the ST162 side-inlet manifold and using that.  Will save you quite some coin. :)

Ok thanks for the info... Let me do some research on that

Argh I just realised this will not work with my side mount intercooler.. especially since I ordered the racerx IC pipes...

What other mods are you running? I'm not sure you'd see that kind of increase on a stock build, notice they claim that kind of gain on average, most people installing one of these intakes have done a fair amount of other mods to the engine.

Just 3 inch down pipe with 3 inch exhaust, k&n air filter, intercooler, electronic boost controller set at 16 psi

Your not going to see any massive increases like that on a relatively std motor/turbo/ecu combo.

Ct20b, gen3 injs and an ecu upgrade would be the next step forward short of rebuild with 5s bottom end base etc

With the added boost you'll definitely see a gain but I would guess not the full 40/30. If I were you I'd send Jeff at RacerX an email and ask him for an estimate of what he thinks you'd gain with your mods. I've found him to be pretty helpful in my dealings with him.

Depending what he says you might find its not worth the money at this point. You could be better off putting the money into a turbo kit or ECU etc.

Are you refering to the Side Feed or the Centre Feed? If your worried about moving the TB forward not making it work I'm sure RacerX could make a TB inlet to make it fit. The stock one is restrictive anyway so your better off without it!

ok thanks guys for the reply... Looks like I'll give that mod a miss than... turbo upgrade sounds good but then I have to worry about all the supporting mod...

Do you think the ct20b is worth it then? From what I've read it's about 30hp increase but I'm not sure of torque figures... And when you say ecu upgrade do you mean like an aftermarket computer or using gen 3 ecu with ct20b?

Aftermarket ECU like a Power FC, Haltech or whatever the tuner you use likes. You'd be looking at around $1200-$1300 for the centre feed once you factor in the exchange rate and shipping. For $1200 you could pick up the GT2860 turbo kit thats in the For Sale section right now, $1500 and you get the fuel system too.

Admittedly you'd still need to save up a bit for the ECU but thats pretty good bang for your buck and will definitely give you what your after!
