omgulur - Thanks mate much appreciated. Ae71 would be awesome with any type of 4age.

I was pretty keen on getting my Whiteline 18mm Rear sway bar on, so I got started this afternoon. I jacked up the car, took the wheels off and worked away.

The sway bar links came off the factory sway bar easy enough, I was really hoping I could get the bar out without removing the muffler or fuel tank straps. It was way too tight to remove the factory sway bar so I removed the muffler and supported the fuel tank with a piece of wood and the jack as I removed the straps.

I tried the car without the muffler and I must admit the note wasn't bad at all hehe. I might end up getting a pipe made up to replace the muffler. It wasn't that loud, I was quite disapointed having to put the muffler back on :(

It was enough to get the factory sway bar out, but not enough to get the larger 18mm rear sway bar in. I had to lower the fuel tank slightly to get the bar in and then raise it up once its all in place.
I know this sounds really strange but I leave all the foam ends and wrap the bar in cling wrap so the bar doesn't get scratched up when sliding it against the fuel tank and under body. I managed to keep the bar in great nick in the end.

All done now. Boy I absolutely hate drum brakes lol. They look horrible.

I have had rear sway bars in previous cars before but i've never seen such a big improvement on my previous cars as I saw today. Car feels really nice now.

Well after what would be a suspected worn pressure plate I have come to the conclusion that I should get started on the engine build sooner than later.
I've found a low kms 4age small port to take the place of the low compression motor from the parts car. I still just need a clutch, timing belt kit and a rear main seal which would be
I am 99% sure I may have also sourced a C56 20v gearbox to mate with the 16v 4age so that should be great too.
Basically my To Do List in the next month includes:
Swap Rear Control Arms from parts car
Swap Rear Disc Brakes from parts car
Swap Fuel tank from parts car (and efi lines)
Swap front sway bar and Front Control Arms from parts car
Drain gearbox fluid from both cars
Remove driveshafts from my car
Remove dash assembly from my car
Remove wiring
Strip out interior from my car (makes it easier to work with)
Install ECU and engine loom
Splice Fuel Pump Wiring with parts car loom
Get A/C gas on both cars drained (so I can remove rear dash assembly)
Get flywheel machined and purchase new flywheel bolts
Install new rear main seal
Install new flywheel bolts, clutch and pressure plate
Install motor and gearbox
Install driveshafts
Install new EFI wiring loom
Install Fuel Pump and fuel tank
Install exhaust from parts car (temporary solution till I get the car running nicely).
New Engine Oil, Oil Filter, Gearbox Fluid, Brake and clutch fluid

Then hope for the best that it all works lol

Last night was very productive. I got quite a bit done on my car
I began preparing the engine for removal.
- Removed Fuse boxes
- Disconnected Engine Loom from Fusebox
- Removed Radiator/ Coolant lines/heater hoses and Heater Tap
- Removed most of the interior in preparation for SX Dash
- Removed battery
- Drained Power Steering Fluid
- Removed Clutch Line
- Removed Shifter Cables
- Disconnected Throttle Cable
- Disconnected Power Steering lines. I still Need to remove the high pressure line (uses a decent size torx head by the looks of things).
- Undid driveshaft bolts slightly, once the cars jacked up I will drain the fluid and remove the driveshafts.
Then it will be a case of removing the fuel lines and it will no longer be known as a Carby motor :) I am hoping to get the motor out on Wednesday night.
On the weekend I will swap over the control arms, brakes and wiring loom from the parts car. I really need to get both cars drained of A/C as its really conflicting with my work so far (removing the fuse boxes and rest of wiring loom).

This weekend I was able to remove the slow 4afc motor and prepare the next stage of cleaning up the firewall (bit of rust where the master cylinder has leaked over the years).
I had an idea..... The car needs a respray due to the rust and peeling clear coat so I was thinking about 2 options:
1. Do a Full Car respray in Satin Black (including interior floor pan, boot and engine bay).
2. Do a Full car in the factory colour (just clean up engine bay in certain areas).
I know satin black is a bit of a mixed choice but I think it could look quite interesting.

I personally think the white on white looks the goods.

This weekend was awesome. Got a heap done on the car, the motor is now out of the engine bay and I am nearly up to the stage where all the old carby/base model bits are removed. I can't wait to start chucking on all these Corolla SX bits (in particular motor and gearbox hehe)
As you can see the engine bay was pretty filthy, especially on the chassis rails and the holes where the steering rack goes through.

The battery tray area was looking pretty aweful. I will end up changing all the a/c lines and seals before everything goes back together.

I was recommended by a friend of mine to use Jiff (or whiteking) with a brush/non scratch kitchen scrubber.

I must admit it worked really well. i still need a bit more work on the firewall to clean it all up (bit of surface rust near the clutch master cylinder) and it will look even better. I am definitely thinking red and white would be an awesome colour combination in the engine bay (red cam covers).
Once I organise a set of 4-1 Tuned extractors, I would love to paint them either white or blue (both colours would show marks quite a bit). At the same time i'd like to find a set of 256 degree cams or end up just using some Bigport Cams from the earlier 4age 16v model.

Should have more updates tomorrow night hopefully :)

I have some bigport cams and other 4age goodies I'll let go for cheap ;)

Another massive week so far. I had heaps to do, doesn't seem like much has been done in the time but its all bits that need to be done eventually.
I started off with fixing a Corolla SX cluster loom plug which bymistake got caught in the drivers door of the parts car as I was closing it, as a result it ended up cracking and breaking. Luckily the loom connector plug was the same from the 4afc motor so I depinned them and swapped em over.

Another job on my car was replacing the Windscreen mechanism since the taper points that the wipers attach onto was worn so the windscreen wipers would not sit in the same position without overtightening it more than it should. It was really filthy behind the wiper trim, its no suprise cars rust after a while with all this dirt around these spots.

I got the front 1/4 panels off to remove the last bits of the CSX body loom. I have removed the whole front section (both sides) of the body loom now, the main difference for this is convenience as well as the ability to use the Corolla SX Condensor and A/C Receiver Dryer. I have a bit of rust near the sills visible in the bottom right photo. I will be able to clean this up pretty easy, i'll coat this area with a white undercoat also to prevent further rust after wirebrushing the existing rust.

Here is the current state of my little corolla. The interior is very bare indeed. Can't wait to get it all back together again. The whole interior was removed so I can use every part of the Corolla SX Dash cluster and A/C System. I will also splice in the 4 wires into the plugs required for the fuel pump.

Goodbye CSX Interior Body Loom. You were good to me...NNNOTTT (borat voice lol)

Here is the SX Body loom ready to go in (currently in Seca Parts Car).

Here is how it lies for the last few weeks. Pretty eager to get it started and going.

A most awesome moment to finally see the ECU in place. Nearly all its Carby Roots have been removed (fuel tank and brakes left, also the FC code in the engine code on the vin lol)

Ohhh yeaaa!!!!

Today and yesterday involved removing and swapping the front control arms, front sway bar, discs and rotors. The reason behind this swap is due to the SX model (parts car) comes with slighty larger Vented Rotors (instead of solid rotors like my car), and the SX control arms have a lug for a front sway bar. These were definitely a great upgrade.

I removed the stock exhaust system/muffler from the parts car, as I might not have enough in my budget at the moment to do get a completely new system made up. It will do for now. I still need to find a really well made set of 4-1 extractors too.

My new motor arrived yesterday, it looks awesome. It does need a few bits to install before its ready to go on

I found the power steering rack on the SX model was different (had 2 vacuum lines for idle up when using power steering) so I have replaced the boots and swapped that over.

Will be a great week. Hoping I can get the motor and interior back in this week. The fuel tank and rear brakes are the only parts still needing to be swapped over.
