I got to park my SW20 next to an 86 tonight on the way home from a good drive. It was quite interesting to stand there for a while and look at the aesthetic differences. Though I quite like the 86, it made me appreciate the SW20 even more – and appreciate how it looks a bit more like a European coupe than a Japanese one in comparison.

Test drive auto and manual. By far manual is much more enjoyable to drive.

Can't believe the price.

^did you put it in 'M' mode and use the paddles?

yes, still not as enjoyable as a normal manual. still have the auto feeling coming to a halt in traffic etc.
 
but that is my personal preference.

still the best auto I've ever driven though. Having driven the auto one I'd actually consider it, whereas before I thought all autos were rubbish.

it's most definitely the best auto i've driven, and if i could only have an auto one, say for instance to keep the wife happy as she only has an auto licensce, then i'd still be happy driving it. 
 
but it's still an auto.

IMO reasons I see the manual having an advantage over the auto is launching and maybe clutch kicking it to get the tail out. 
however no manual driver can change gears in 0.2 sec though.

my friend bought an auto, and i got a manual both GTS, so we can swap if one of us desires the other.

0.2 secs is a lifetime. VWs DSG changes in 0.04 secs. That's 5 times quicker
