Hi everyone, and hi Knightrous,
I have been following your progress in your website and also here and first of all i wanted to thank you for all the info you share!
Atm im trying to fit a SW20 rear swaybar (SW20 turbo gen3 19mm one) in my MK1A AW11 and i was suggested from UK that to fit this i need 200mm centre to centre links and to rotate oem AW11 swaybar clamps 180º and drill the new 2 holes in the chasis, but watching your pics in this thread i´m a bit confused. What links length have you used? did you use the aw11 clamps? Is it really needed to rotate them?
If you could give me some advice/tips about its installation, i would be very gratefull!

Thanks in advance
Kind regards

Man, been a very long time since I did the SW20 sway bar on the rear of the TrackDub (I eventually got rid of all the sway bars!) and I honestly cannot remember what I did. I'm pretty sure I either used the AW11 links or the SW20 ones that came with the sway bar. I ended up reshaping the stock sway bar c clamps to accept the bigger bush and sway bar. Ideally I should have just made new ones out of billet alloy, but I was lazy.

I'll see if I can find some photos from around that time.

Great! Thank you man ;)

These are the only photos I can find.
The reshaped mounts.

I chopped down the rubber to fit the reshaped mount.

The bar fitted, from the tracking of the photos, I reused the AW11 links.

Thank you very much mate.
I understand you didn´t rotate backwards the swaybar bracket? you just used the 2 oem chassis holes?
Cheers

Yeah, no rotating from what I remember.

Well the MR2 Wakefield Park Challenge is over and I'm rekt.
SW21MZ pulled some decent results out of it's ass once again despite a rocky start to the event.
Set a new PB of 1:14.632, which is a full 1 second faster over last year with just some new RS-RR tires and some brakes that worked.

Pulled a miracle out of my ass on the Hill Climb with a 27.0881 on my second run (First run was a 27.1012), giving me 4th place, behind two EVO9's and Glenn who was the fastest MR2 at the event. SW21MZ was the fastest road registered MR2 on the Hill Climb . This was the highlight of the event for me.

Finished 3rd in the MR2 Modified Street Over 2L Class (MSO) behind Eric and Adrian with their beasty 2GR powered SW20's. MSO class was a V6 Victory this year! Eddie, was the closest 3S turbo.
A big thanks to Peter and Sharon for organising the event. It ran extremely smoothly from a competitor point of view and as a fellow volunteer. Time to start planning for 2018???

Massive thanks to Geoff Fear and Paul Brell who sorted out my brake issues at the beginning of the event and enabled me to get back out in time to squeeze in two runs on the hill climb! Paul saved my ass again at the end of the event when I broke the clutch slave rod and he was able to fix it up so I could drive home.

Thanks to Anthony Oh for coming down and taking a heap of photos (including the one on this post!), always keen to see the great moments you have captured out on course.

Congrats to Glenn for finally breaking the MR2 lap record previously held by Ken. Been a long time coming!
And as usual, endless thanks to my better half, Cait. She didn't compete this year, but chose to instead put up with my shenanigans before, during and after the event.

Due to the initial brake dramas on SW21MZ, I didn't have time to fit the camera on the Monday, so I only have three videos.

Project Budget Boost: 250RWKW - $2500

I don't know why I'm even doing this, because it's not like I have enough projects on the go, but.... Just before the WPC2017 event, I had to remove the exhaust to fit a near rear swaybar. While I was laying under the back of the car fitting the new rear sway when I said to myself, "Boy, there sure is a lot of space back here, I wonder if that GT3076 turbo would fit..." So here we are, answering a question that didn't need asked. Also, this will give me a whole bunch of TIG welding practise!

There won't be much in the line of details in the posts as this has slowly pulled together in the last 9 months and I have moved house in between (Now have a glorious 4 car garage :D). If you want to know something about it, feel free to ask.

Where it all started...

So what is it?

Unopened 1MZFE
Stock camry y-pipe till flex join
Custom 2" up-pipe from y-pipe
eBay GT3076 .62 Turbo
DIY Water Injection for intercooling (40psi 5L/min pump and a Bosch 2000cc E85 injector)
Custom 3" dump pipe and exhaust, with suiting muffler and cat.
Uses an oil scavenge pump to pull non-draining oil from the turbo and pumping it back into the head.

What's the plan?
E85 + 10psi + water injection = 250KW or smash it to pieces trying!
1MZ's are cheap, I want to see how far I can go with one on a small budget.

And how much has it cost so far?
eBay GT3076 .62 Turbo - $300
Oil Scavenge Pump - $100
565cc WRX Injectors - $200
MegaSquirt 3X Ecu - $650
Flex Fuel Sensor - $150
DIY Water Injection - $150
DIY Exhaust - ~$425 (Muffler, flanges, bends, cat, WB02 bung, flex/expansion joints, gaskets, studs)
Gen 3 Rear Cradle - $100
AN fittings and hoses - $100
Total: $2175

Currently I'm finishing all the welds on the exhaust system, it should be driving again this weekend in an NA state with a turbo fitted.
