Hi Knightrous.   Great stuff mate.  That is a good result. And thanks for the pics.   Where is the venue.?  I would certainly be interested if that is Gympie.  Seems to be a terrible lack of enthusiasm for motor sport in our Qld group.  Like the look of the Hyd handbrake but does it flex too much on its mounting?          Cheers  Doug.

The venue was indeed the Road Craft driver facility in Gympie.
The hand brake works fairly well, there is a small amount of flex, but that's probably because it's held on with 7 tek screws. I'll get around to welding the support mount in shortly with a couple of extra braces.

With regards to motorsport in QLD, there is interest, but it's like herding cats. Hard to get people past all the excuses (my car isn't ready, I need to spend $$$$$$$ to make my car faster, etc etc) and get them to the actual track.

Quick update.

Went to the Godbee Performance Dyno Day at Widgee today. I did a one hour street tune on the way to the dyno venue using the VEAL auto tune software, which was mainly for getting some fuel economy while driving. It made 112.0RWHP (83.5RWKW) with the current  tune and has plenty of room for improvements.

Looking to get it onto the dyno for a proper tune in the next few months and look at playing with cam timing, intake velocity stacks and maybe custom 4-2-1 extractors. But for now it's tuned good enough to drive as a daily again and it's ready for Willowbank drags next weekend and a motorkhana at the end of the month :)

Decided to have a run at the drags at the Willowbank Saturday Test n Tune.
Had a bit of fun and managed a 15.715 pass, so pretty happy with that.

A quick video I sliced together of a few runs

Well after the fun session at Willowbank, the TrackDub came home with a slight viabration noise that was noticeable down low but not while cruising along on the high way. I just assumed it was something that had come loose in the engine bay and was vibrating (or the over flow bottle had landed down on the diff again...).
I checked out the engine bay and a little poke around lead me to this!

A totally raped engine mount that has broken all the way through and let the motor shift against the mounting point itself, hence the vibration. So the next little project for this weekend is to get my spare mounts out, sikaflex them up and swap them over.
Following that, I'm going to do cut up the broken mounts and cast 90A poly urethane into them for some new extreme mounts! Look out for a quick guide on doing that in the future!

Well after Mount Rapage, I decided to follow an old back yard method for beefing up engine mounts, by adding sikaflex (Urethane) to fill in the gaps and strengthen them up.

So I picked up the items.

Sikaflex, acetone and wax n grease remover.

Use the wax n grease remover to clean the mounts thoroughly.

Now pack the gaps in the mount full of sikaflex

Use a paint brush dipped in acetone and smooth the sikaflex out and push as much air out it as possible.

Now just wait 3-4 days for the sikaflex to cure and harden correctly, then throw it back into the car :D

Swapped out the broken mounts for the sikaflex filled spare mounts. Check out the old mounts.

With the new sikaflex mounts in, there is some vibration through the cabin and a couple of trims rattle more then usual, but it gives it that race car feel now :P Will have to see how it goes at 110km/h down the high way to see how bad it gets.
Till next time....
