Bugger that, haha. Just replace it with a ST205 MHG and use ARP head studs. If the gasket was metal, then either the machining was poor or maybe the head bolt torque was not checked after running the car for a little while after getting it running (1000kms can do a lot to virgin head studs). Only other option is the excess boost ended up lifting the head (yes, that does happen and gen2 heads are **** to begin with) and giving you an unwanted rebuild!
