Will it beat Glenns turbo life weapon? Lets see how it goes in a few months time.

It's already a few months since my last post but there is always something that is there to slow down progress. Work, home , life etc.
The flex-fuel sensor is now installed as is everything else required for the E85 fuel system. Also added MAP sensor. This was a process as it required a barb on each port. I tried the MAP install some time ago but it was a failure yet the replacement system is a winner (thank god..) Just waiting on the replacement coils to complete the engine rework before tuning. Car is running ok, coolant is ok, no oil leaks.
On the endless list of 20 items to complete, I finally sorted the front brake cooling lines and strengthened the bonnet. Still have the reworked front scoop and undertray to go.

Here are a few photo's of some of the work over the last few months.
It's never any fun removing the tank then replacing the fuel pump.
Very happy and relieved with MAP install.
The flex fuel also worked out pretty well.
Tuner is booked in for August.

I know a few people are running fuel surge tanks with most in the rear of the car. As you may know I have taken a different route by fitting it where the battery is located. I have a few reasons for this: Better weight distribution, less heat, better cooling, lower COG. Battery is a Lithium Ion located in the cabin.

Fitting a Radium surge with the pump in the tank would be nice but just working with what I have on a limited budget. I have had this set up for a few years but decided to give it a refresh as I have updated fuel to manage E85 in a bid to extract a bit more power from the 2GRFE so why not rework the system. Pre surge tank filter is 40 micron Earls unit with the pre injector filter being a 10 micron Duke which I had lying around in the shed. External pump is new 040 Bosch unit , Injectors being 1000cc Bosch motorsport injector. Flex fuel has been fitted with everything managed by Haltech Elite 2500.

Have also replaced the old air scoop with a thicker, stronger unit which has been re profiled in a bid to improve aero if I ever get this thing back on the track.

It is not a million dollar job and yes it can do with some tidying up, a coat of paint would be nice too but it is what it is.

If I have time on Sunday I will be testing the fuel system then start up. Still have a few wiring settings to sort before tuning. tuning is on hold until the tuner recovers from an injury so (in the mean time)will be sorting out as many of the 30 endless jobs.

Thanks Admin.

Start up went well. Aiming for a run in late November.

Unfortunately will not be running in November as the new paint work is taking longer than expected due to lack of time to work on the car and access to the paint booth. Was thinking of a one day prep then paint but simply did not work out that way. The paint white paint was frying up with the blue paint that the car had when I bought it. All the white paint had to go which took 2 full days of sanding which was not a lot of fun. As it was not going to happen that day we decided to start fixing the huge list of body defects before spraying the car. Kind of a blessing in disguise as there turned out to be a lot of problems and a great chance to make a few little tweaks here and there. This Saturday should have the car in high fill primer ready to be blocked back the following week then the new paint will be done. Anthony Ho is organizing the new decals for the car which will set it off.
Sadly the blue/silver/white will be no more. i will certainly miss it but I expect the new paint will make up for it.
The tune will be done a week after then hopefully make it to the track before the end of the year. If not, no big deal as I will be all ready for 2021 as long as nothing blows up again.
