Thanks for the pic's but that was before I picked up the car.
It ;looks a little different at the moment as the seam welding has been done but still on blocks. It will off to bond roll cages in a few weeks then home for final assembly.
Plenty to be done in cluding the heater hoes removed which is a pain due to these being above the fueltank( as you know), fabricating a engine cowl like evo65m, wiring and the list goes on. It should be ready in 8 weeks then I will give it a run. I was talking to the guy who ran the car at that track day. I asked him what the car was like. He stated the engine response was violent but the quickest Mr2 they have had through the shop, good brakes, handles well so its was a good base to start from.
Have to say that the seam welding aspect is a lot of hard work and time which I hope to see some rewards for.

Well it progressing slower than what I would like. I hope to find time next week or early the following week to get the car to Bond Roll Cage for the cage fitting then then wiring will be sorted as soon as it returns from Bonds.
Still plenty to do..

I had my car fully caged by Bond a couple of years ago, the project has been idle ever since due to other projects, its a great cage, let me know if you would like pics, Mr2 are not an easy car to cage to FIA spec and still have room to move. If you are over 6 foot I would suggest you get them to make a few changes over what they made for me.

I removed all the tar on the inside, including the second wall that back on to the engine bay with tar behind, it not an easy job, but there are far better insulators around that weigh a lot less.

Just returned the car from Bond Roll Bars. I will be cutting in the cage this week with the welding over the weekend.
I highly recommend to see Bond for a cage. Very helpful decent people.
They also provide the service of setting all the geometry on the car. Once the cage is in, I will be back to bond for a few trick bits to improve on the car. One point he did make was the focus on stablising the engine as it looks as though it tends to float about which may have something to do with that 'spooky' feeling that people talk about.
Also found a auto sparky who will not charge the earth, so its coming together slowly.
Cant wait to get it out on the track but the journey there is a treat!!

I saw these pic's a little while ago.
You can see the way the car steps out to the left under brakes. The rear left bushes are flogged which was causing this. The lower control arm bolt which had almost fallen out also didnt help. Always check all bolts and nuts before going to the track. If I took the car straight to the track it would have been a nasty accident if the bolt dropped at high speed into a corner.
The cage has been fitted and tacked into place. I have the Tig welding guru coming over next weekend to tie it all into place.
So far I have removed about 170kg, seam welded the chassis, tig welding a 'bond roll cage' into place.
The rewire is next with an expert found who will be relocating the wiring from the rear of the car the cabin.
Its taking time but I will get there.

how is everything progressing? have you and mr2oz decided on a window solution yet? Hopefully heading of to Silverstone this weekend for a very large gathering of MR2s.

Im working on the cage after work every day atm. Its almost completed. It will ba a ten point cage welded to the the chassis rails and strut towers. I have come up with a way to tie the cage into the rear strut towers without going through the rear window. It looks good on paper. Peter at bond roll bars pointed out a few ways to minimise the vauge effect sw20's have in the rear. I will pick up a fair amount with the cage then add a few more braces to the engine to complete the exercise.
Im using 2-3mm lexan for the rear window, rear quarter windows and targa tops. I will simply make up a aluminium frame for the the targa the fix to it.
Another mods are relocating the intercooler and the addition of a air box with both finding air from ducts on the roof.
Also fabricating new caster rod mounting points.
I have a A1 welder working with me at the moment. He is making life very easy with the cage.
I havent been in contact with mr2oz as yet but will in the near future.

Make sure you manage a few pic's or footage while at Silverstone

Cheers
