Pulled the gearbox out today to see what is happening with the clutch. After measuring it up, it is out a little but not too much but seemed to be enough to make it slip. The supplier for the shims is oversea's so the car is off the road for another two weeks or so. Still, it allows me to tick a few more boxes on the list.
Been shopping for some bits and pieces:
2"ducting for brakes as the 3" is too big
New clutch slave cylinder
New braided clutch line
More lexan for a new engine cover (finally)
New spark plugs(first time since purchasing the car..)
New 3"flares
New high tensile bump steer links for the front end. These are now in parallel with the LCA's.
New Southwest rear LCA's but who knows if they will ever show up. My advise is to keep away from these guys..
650cc injectors are also on their way.
Also ordered a inlet flange which will be built up to my spec over the next month or so.
Plus a new TV screen to see who the hell is behind me!
There are still plenty of things to be done with a new Adaptronic ECU just about at the top of the list. End of Jan looks about right.
So it will be rewired and tuned to suit. It will be a differnet car with a decent tune, decent bump steer and down to 1000kg without driver and fuel. May event get a little closer to the black nugget at WTAC..
Im still looking at four link suspension but will have to wait till later in the year as it all takes time but will have something else sorted out in the meantime. The existing system of bolting a block of alloy between a ball join and the hub never really sat well with me. Then you stick rose jointed links or poly bushes on that set up. It works but its a bit of a mess.. To me it really needs to be simplified in a way which makes it stronger and lighter.
Was talking with a EVO X owner today. Couldnt believe a MR2 was that quick at Wakefield(B24) or EC( EVO65's). People do have a funny perception of the MR2..
