Yep, engine will be going in this weekend. Possibly tomorrow even. I didn't get my bloody firewall heatshields back from the ceramic coater yet. Another Wayne Kerr to add to my 'do not deal with again' list. He said he'd get them expressed out to me so they came today. Bullpoo poo. Im going to have to try shoehorn them in later, or just leave them out till the next time the engine is dropped.

Good luck getting them in with the engine in the bay. But i guess you might have some more room with the aftermarket turbo

I agree, I'll see how I go I guess. If the engine needs to come out again at some point, its not a big hassle, its only a couple of hrs work. What you doing today Dan? :D

Pulled marks out with the engien in, was a hassle as it was geting jammed between the compressor housing and other stuff, thankfully, my compressor houasing is in a different location, so I may have more luck.

Engine is going in today. Where are you Daniel! :) I could use an extra hand today. Got a few small things this morning like resizing some braided lines that are already attached to the fuel tank (Yay, means doing them in the car) and confirming everything is tight before fitment. I found the 1/2" to 3/8" adapter so im considering pulling the tranny briefly to confirm torque on the clutch cover bolts. As mentioned before, I just did these up 'tight' as I couldn't find an adapter for the socket bit I was using so only had a 3/8" breaker bar to work with.

Need another volunteer :)

Well, called in the troops, decided to pull the transmission and torque the clutch cover bolts to correct spec just for peace of mind.

Went around and checked everything was nice and tight. Mark had poo poo leaking everywhere upon starting his engine, I didn't want the same issues. Semi tidied and tied up things around the engine to ensure the task would be as simple as possible with minimum of hookups, then lowered the engine onto a creeper and pushed it beneath the car ready for raising.

Usually at this point I'd lower the car some so you dont have to lift the engine as high to get to the mounts, but seeing as I still have a number of things to do under the car, I didn't really want to do this. So up she went. After a bit of nudging around to get the mounts aligned it was in.

Now the real challenges begin, like how to fit everything in this mess. I've got to get an IC pipe from the turbo outlet to the IC inlet towards the firewall, then from the IC outlet to the throttlebody. I had some 3" bends purchased already, and have a number of silicon joiners (which I'm going to have to cut down to make the turns as tight a possible). I will probably end up having to buy a aluminium 3" donut as well for the 90degree turn into the throttlebody. Following that, need to get a 4" pipe to fit in with an airfilter attached. The currently 9" long filter I have will definitely not fit, so I'm going to swap it for my mates 4.5"(??) long filter. Fun fun fun! :(

haha, after my mechanic finished installing an SM4 into my sw20 he swore never to do one again. Its suuch a big job lol. I was watching him put one into a skyline GTR, couldnt believe how much wiring is involved..
