Engine action do produce quality work, but if you use them, make sure you get a written quote before they begin any work. Or, get them to quote on a tear down and inspection, allow them to do the inspection, and then quote on the price of the rebuild.

Cheers guys. I'll give them a call next week. Hopefully it's not way out of my price range.

Gomez, Don't be afraid to send your engine out for rebuild. Its not exactly over the top.

I've had engines built in various locations and its only a matter of ensuring the builder wraps and preps the engine well before it is picked up etc.

I've had a V8 built in Melbourne, another one by Trick and Mansweto racing in Sydney etc. Its never a huge cost to get it home.

My current engine in my MR2 was built by Price engines. it came to a total of $4500 for the lot (excluding labour of removal and reinstallation etc.)

I got forged Eagle H Beam rods, Forged Pistons, Clevite race spec bearings. Head was reconditioned, all new genuine toyota gaskets except for head gasket. ARP head stud kit and bottom end kit.

New Old stock Toyota Crank etc.

I'm stoked wih the job. it was running fantastically until this week when i had a workshp do a turbo swap for me and its now throwing codes.

To me the bottom line would come down to whether or not a full rebuild is actually needed. The price of 3SGE donks made me replace the engine in my last MR2 with a second hand unit that had 80,000kms on it. Food for thought anyways.

Good luck with it mate.

Cheers mate. I'm currently looking at either a beams swap (from a Celia) or rebuilding the current engine I have. My motor is in a pretty terrible condition atm but i still need to do some more research
