The department of fair trading can sort out the issue with the mechanic.
Why not talk to road and track? He could help sorting out the engine.

Or build it yourself and save all these issues.....

I'll build my own engines from now on. Just general machining will be outsourced. I'm still waiting for my engine to return, it will one day. But still leaning towards a v6 jump at the end of the year.

If your going V6, don't piss around with the 3VZ. The 1MZ is newer, lighter, requires the same amount of work to transplant and the 1MZ is just as cheap (you can buy a manual 1MZ Camry for $800 - 1500, R&T has one for sale right now). The 1MZ has more horsepower, more torque and you have the option of VVTi on the newer versions.

They are also pretty easy to setup with an aftermarket ECU, I've seen a couple of Adaptronic, Link and MegaSquirt ECU's.

Oh yeh my bad I misplaced the word "cheapest" with "best" engine to swap with. Obviously my heads have been in the cloud for too long
I'm gonna have to agree with Knightrous here, 1MZ>3VZ. Maybe have a chat with MRVirgin for speedy info download. It will be quite interesting up against a V6 but you won't be able to compete in the under 2L at the Wakefield MR2 Championship next year :P

Paul Woods / TwoBrutal sell a mount for both 3VZ and 1MZ.

From what I understand the 3vz heavier iron block can take a lot more punishment in the way of forced induction.

I chose 1mz, have the car, just getting funds together for the swap.

Jeremy LOVES V6 swaps....

So it took me just under 20 hours to change the clutch

In the first test run the two forward captive nuts on the rear torque mount broke away and snapped the bolts.
