I would say gen 3 personally, although I’m biased from already doing the swap
Gen 3 has the better turbo, catch can, better intake mani and head, map sensor, no tvis, ect, for a base gen 3 is good and can make some nice power,
Although i’ve Heard the gen 2 block is better for high horse power applications, and gen 2 defiently has more support aftermarket

Finding all the bits for the swap is the hard part. Gearboxes, driveshafts, hubs and shifter cables are getting rarer and more expensive.

If you want a turbo car, my recommendation would be to sell yours and buy another one - It will work out cheaper

If  you're set on keeping your current car and decide to go with the swap I've got a fully forged Gen 2 long block for sale.

Good for 400-500hp it'll be able to do 350hp all day everyday and when you get the power bug you can turn it up! Just send me a PM if you'd like some more info.

Muuuuuch cheaper to start with an old JDM SW20 Turbo. If your target is 350Hp you will need to strip and rebuild the injun anyway, and you can pick them up for <$10k. Reputation is that the drive train of your NA won't handle 350Hp.
Once project car is on the road, you can sell your NA. Helps to have double garage at your disposal.

Anyway that's one way....

Couldn't agree more. It's the only cost effective way in my opinion.
