Hi guys. I'm new to the MR2 forums and am just wondering what the SW20 GTs base idle is?
Mine seems to run at around 1200 - 1300rpm on cold start then idle at 900rpm once at operating temp.
I'm confident their are no intake or vacuum leaks as I have gone over everything and also replaced all vacuum lines. The temp gauge is reading correctly so I don't think its to do with a cold start type thing. 900rpm just doesn't seem right to me.

Thanks

Those details match mine, doesn't seem out of the ordinary. Don't know why they idle that high though, potentially something to do with balance *shrugs*

Sounds pretty close.  All mine, once at norm operating temp set between 8-850rpm. both my na's & turbos are the same at idle.

As Mike says its very close and tacos are not always spot on anyway.
Might be an idea to check the base (static) ignition timing too.

is it turbo or NA, & what Gen engine?
Turbo Gen 2 is supposed to be 850rpm at factory I think. There is a sticker on the engine bonnet that states the idle rpm.

If you have high electrical load (Front lights on or defogger on) then I think the idle gets bumped up by 50rpm.

I have no idea about the NA's though.

By the Tacho my engine is idling at approx 900 to 1000 RPM.
A little while ago when we had a Dyno day at WTF Auto, I observed that the Dyno readout was showing more than 100 RPM lower than the Tacho.
I asked the question.
It is apparently common for our Tachos to read high.

Peter is correct.  Very common for tacko to be off a bit.
