... and this is exactly what these type of products depend on for success. Blind faith in the absence of any credible evidence.
My experience has been that modern engines run with modern oils under 'normal' conditions, from a wear perspective, will outlast the rest of the car. Non wear and tear related mechanical failures will happen regardless of how good the oil is. 30 years ago, 200,000kms was regarded as a good run for an engine, today it's about half life.
Good synthetic oils DON'T NEED additives, nor will the engine benefit from additives, stick with the blend the oil manufacturers have carefully crafted and delivered to you, ready to go.
