Just seeking some advice, had a call out. I've damaged / lost the remote fob/key..

I've got bathurst 96 MR2.. Battery went flat. Tried jump starting but the alarm & immobiliser wouldnt bugger off, tried the door trick that i've read about but no good. Car wouldnt start.
Trying to get around the immobiliser

Is it easy to remove?

Locked on, i've lost it over the years. I will have a look tomorrow when i get the chance.

As for removing the immobiliser, would it be easy enough to do myself? Is there a step-by-step guide anywhere? :(

An after market immobiliser generally goes after the ignition wire on the barrel and the lead to the starter motor relay, using relays to stop connections, which would be otherwise made. Normally you would remove the indicator tabs on the collection of black wires coming out of the box to flummox DIY removal. YMMV.

if you can find the breaks in the circuit(s) that the immobiliser is isolating, you'd be on track.

Nick thanks heaps for your post. Thinking im just gonna get a auto electrician to come out. Was having a play around last night but cant find any leads.

Was there not a stock immobiliser on the 1996 bathurst mr2? Its confusing me, as with the battery charged now it sounds like its about to start but it just wont tick over.. and the alarm wont stop going off. Could this be another fault?

What month is the car ?
Before May of 1996 used the Alpine Gen 1 secuity system,  with a alarm ecu to the starter relay.

After May 1996 its ant intergrated main ecu with a transponder key.   Since you're saying you lost the remote and now its re-armed i would say you've got the alpine system.

Turn the ignition lock to ON and press the disarm/valet switch ot button . It may be up under the dash or on the kick panel next to the accelerator pedal .
