Not a MR2 though it has some MR2 parts.....
This is a 1995 ST205 personal import that I bought for $11000 with only 98000 genuine kms on it.
It has a GEN4 bottom end with a GEN3 top end.
Mods -
  • Cusco front underbrace
  • Cusco strut brace
  • Cusco adjustable strut tops (added by me)
  • HKS turbo timer
  • Blitz ECU (added by me)
  • Blitz speed and boost controller
  • Full Blitz 3 inch exhaust
  • Pod filter and BOV
  • Projector head lights from a 1999 model (added by me)
  • Carbon fibre side mirrors (added by me)
  • Carbon fibre interior trim panels (added by me)
  • The charge cooler pump has been modified to run all the time (done by me)
  • The fuel pump has been modified to run at full voltage all the time (done by me)
  • 17 inch wheels (added by me)
  • TRD skirts
This is the best street car I have even owned.
I haven't had it dynoed though I have a graph from the previous owner saying 178kW at the wheels. It's running more boost now due to the Blitz ECU so it should be more.
The paint is original. Nobody believes me.

That's a fantastic buy! Where did you buy it from/see it advertised?

Any update on the 205? More low perhaps?

No more low. I'm tired of cars scraping on stuff.
I did manage to find some OEM rims in Canada and paid way too much to get them here though they are rare so that's my justification to the wife.
I'll get them reconditioned so they look like new before I use them.

I've bought some bling for it -
  • New rear window external sun shade
  • Stock (I modified it to flow better) air box. I get 1.5psi more boost with this compared to a Blitz pod :-)
  • Fensport wastegate actuator
I took it to Marulan a while ago and got a 44.5s lap time which is awesome for such an old car. I beat a 2010 Sti with a good driver so I'm stoked.

Average Joe Car Show
Greetings admin,

My name is Daniel Woodcock, previously I was registered under the name Woodmember with the email .com, but your google authentication is broken and I have since lost access to that account. As a result I unfortunately have been back to the site in some time. Ive still got my AW11 MR2 and will update the forum on it restoration progress in due course.

However i'm now back on a different mission, and that mission is to find out how you were able to import a JDM GT-Four. A friend an myself both desperately want one of these cars. However the importers we have asked have stated its impossible to get one of these cars. However it would seem you have been able to bring one in, this leads me to the question.... how?

Did you get a letter of compliance from Toyota? Did you go through a RAW? We really want to know how you got this into the country and on the road. Any and all advice you give would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Daniel

Wow rare car.
He didn't import it himself. The previous owner got it into AU as a personal import having owned it in Japan.

That's correct. It is a personal import and has a special compliance plate that says so. I believe that you can only import a car as a grey import if that model was never sold locally, though there may be a time limit on this. I.e. Once the car reaches a certain age, you maybe able to import one. Check with the RMS to be sure.
Another option is for you to live in another country for a while and buy one then bring it back with you. I believe that the minimum time period is 12 months though once again you should check with the RMS to be sure.
