FIRST 2015 RUN - SUNDAY 15 FEB - MURWILLUMBAH MINUS ANY MOTORWAY

As this will be our first Run of the New Year and also our first Run for a few months we decided to blow the cobwebs out and find a route that many if not all will not have travelled before. To make it more interesting we spent a lot of time on the recon and found that via some really twisty roads we could drive from one of our normal starting points to the town of Tyalgum via Murwillumbah without doing ANY motorway or dual carriageway main road driving at all.

The route the Run Manager has found is fully tarred, doesn't go anywhere near Beaudesert or other large towns (except a back way through Murwillumbah), and took us along a great stretch of roads on the spine of the border ranges.

Intrigued?? Finally had the car fixed?? Just feel the need to get out with other MR2's and go around corners like they are supposed to?? Haven't seen DV_S's new engine yet?

Well, the meeting time for this Run is 8.30am for departure at 9.00am. It's a bit earlier than in the past, but unlike Campbell Who? we are listening to those that elected the Committee and like to get away before 9.30am .

Meeting place and start point is the BP Stapylton servo in Henry Hester Drive off the Yatala exit (Exit 38) of the Pacific Motorway going south.

Anyone coming on this incredible Run needs to be full leaving Yatala (fuel there last week was $1.26 per litre for Premium) and as a lot of the roads and the route are new it would be helpful if a co-driver could be brought along to help the driver with navigation. If you can't find a co-driver don't worry because we haven't lost anyone yet.

As usual a fully detailed Run Sheet will be provided to all on the Roll Call via PM 48 hours before the Run so the route can be studied. Lunch is either BYO or for purchase at the Tyalgum pub, and a morning tea stop has been factored in. Hope to see you all there.

Wishing I was still living on the Gold Coast. Is this a trial run for the after Nationals?

After being off the road for a month, finally took mine for a drive last night and now the engine is making some disturbing noises. Shame, I love northern NSW, but might have to give it a miss.

I'm keen to come so long as there are no nasty surprises getting the suspension checked tomorrow! What's the road quality like? I have the kw's turned up pretty stiff atm, think I should wind them down a bit?
