I have searched all the threads on suspension ideas & brands etc etc etc............now I'm more confused. All I want to achieve is a 40mm odd lowering of the car without compromising to much on comfort, yes it's a looks thing Lol.

Anyway, I don't do any track work, just mainly freeway driving so now I'm asking for any suggestions on a suspension specialist in the Sydney area, preferably between Parramatta & Blacktown????

Any recommendations would be really appreciated.

Cheers

There's plenty of suspension specialists out there, but if you're only looking to lower it, you're probably better off buying lowering springs or coilovers & having them installed by your mechanic. Tein, King etc etc. If your shocks are already rooted (which they likely are at the cars age), you'd be better off going with some coilovers IMO. I'd recommend BC BR's which are around $1100. Adjustable, with great ride quality. Proved brand too.

I'm from western Sydney too & highly recommend Peter from Road & Race (near Parramatta). He's setup my MR2's (+ other cars) & plenty of other MR2 owners go to him. He's certainly a specialist, but I'll be honest & say he won't be the cheapest for what you want to achieve.

Gatesys SW20
Second on road and race
There's a place on the central coast with the same name probably the same place
And I've heard great things about them
Was going to have my car corner weighted he was going to charge 2-300$ not bad if you ask me.

I run bc br coilovers and have had no complaints
Awesome suspension
I had g4s in the past similar price range
But with out dampening adjusting but the g4s had rear camber plates..
And the BCs are as good if not better then those
I loved the g4s ahah
Driven 1200kms on them so far and have bedded in nicely and done a weekend (150) laps of Wakefield with them giving them a hard time and still just like new.

Road and race for sure. he does a proper 2 hour job when it comes to balancing and aligning your car, not because he's slow, but because he makes sure its done right.

I went to East Coast Suspension at Taren Point.

A lot further out than what you asked but this place has been in the business for a real long time. They set up race cars, road cars. When I have been in there they have been redoing suspension setup on new euro exotics.

They installed a Koni/Eibach combo on my car and their work is 100% spot on. The ride is good and firm without being uncomfortable. Went very nice at the Wakefield challenge as well.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions. I will try and get over to Road & Race next week to see what Peter has to say.

Cheers

There have been plenty of suggestions already, but I also recommend Heasman Steering at Sydenham.

If you want to retain comfort you should take a look at Tein Super Street coilovers. They're meant to be very comfortable and have lower spring rates than the more sport/race oriented coilovers. Apparently they're too soft to perform well on the track but that's not a problem for you.

I'm not a big Tein fan these days. I'd go BC BR over Tein SS. They're quite comfy too from what I've sampled.

You've probably sorted this already, but thowing this up here for future searchers. If you are around the Central Coast there is Road2Race at Gosford, not affiliated with Road and Race.
I had my SW20 in there for a proper alignment and they are champions. I had some worn components so they let me know it would be a waste of money getting an alignment, put the car on the hoist and showed me where the worn bits were and explained everything to me.
I called them this morning for some advise on replacement suspension bits and it wasn't a hassle! Legends!
Peter is the main man, Marcus is the senior mechanic and Mitch the apprentice. All really dedicated and knowledgeable guys. Worth a visit if you want your car set up properly!

Cheers.
