Time for an update of some sorts.
- A fellow adubber who has a particular turbo GZE and is building another engine, put his GZE long motor for sale for incredibly cheap since it is well used and had an oil leak. Picked it up and giving it a cleanup and using a lot of my good parts to get my car running. Pulled the caps off the crank and they're looking good enough to reuse, although not fantastic.
- A week later my old daily Liberty GT sold, so got a well needed cash injection into my AW11 rebuild fund. Trying not to spend this on the new engine itself but already spent a healthy amount on well needed brake and suspension refresh. I'll update as they start rocking up at my doorstep :)
At the moment the concentration is to get the car running again, so engine dropped back in and sorting out my 3 transmissions into one working one. Brakes will get done at the same time as well as wheel bearings.
Once this is done I'll be redoing the suspension.
For the brakes and suspension it's going to be very much a case of doing it properly the first time around, so no expense has been spared :)
Longer term goal, eg. end of this year, is to have my old engine fully rebuild so it's like new, and pending on how well my replacement transmission goes, either getting my old one rebuilt, or just using the replacement for the time being and getting my fresh engine swapped back in.
New wheels are on the cards as well sometime this year.
