To be fair, the majority of those guys were rookies. This track day was geared more towards first timers and novices just having a punt in their family car, hence why Ian and myself managed to get in the top 10. At the Circuit Club days I'm normally at, I'd sit halfway down the list or a bit further towards the bottom.
Was a really fun day out. Thanks heaps for coming along Steve and Pete. Always nice to have some extra company. And thanks for teaching me how to do wheel alignments! No more spending $120 on an alignment (then spinning off and ruining it in the first session) for me. I can't believe after 4 track days I've somehow spun off enough times at just the right angles to get all my toe angles to 0. Oh Steve- when you get a chance can you text me those numbers we measured off the car for the alignment? Thanks mate.
Super happy with my 1'13.8. Though I'm sure there's more in the car. I reckon a low 1'13 is reasonable and that's what I'll be shooting for over the next few track days. But I'd really like a pro to flog the car just to see what it can do. I'm sitting here speculating about a low 13 but maybe the car is good for a 12 flat. Rick Bates brings his 86 out to Circuit Club days every now and then so next time I'll have him drive for a session and see what happens.
Bloody Iain got me by one tenth! Well done mate. But next time... So much red mist I'll have to run with the aircon on haha. Post up a link when you get the videos up on youtube. What we need to do is get footage of a good lap from both of us and place them side by side to see where each car is quicker. I reckon that'd be helpful for getting our times down.
