Hmm yeah that's some expensive re-repairs.  Oh well, I'm sure a Bathurst will make an excellent 2GR track car.

Well.... thought I should pull it down myself & inspect previous damage / repair job.

I can see where it has been repaired, not a perfect job, but I'm pretty happy with it.... not sure regency would be though, as I know how picky than can be.

Will keep you all posted.

I don't think the re-repair is as expensive as you might think.. I mean the photos show that the majority of the work has been done(?)

That's what I first thought.
Your right in saying majority of work has been done, yet I had a compliance inspector (for vehicles) come out & assess it for me.
He's business is working with clients to get their cars thru regency & all other vehicle inspections that maybe required, as he used to be an inspector himself... so he seems to know all the ins & outs.

So ATM I'm waiting on hearing back from him with hopefully some good news.
Will wait & see... the other side of me, what's to get stuck into this car & start track prepping it, as hard as it would be, would be a great track car as someone else has mentioned.

Soooo... after hearing back from the compliance inspector & a few discussions later with the repairer, looks though I will be proceeding with the repairs.

The only reason this car is not a track car is that fortunately I have the original pics of the car when it was damaged.  Apparently if I didn't have them, this mr2 would never see the road again.

Some of you are probably asking yourselves why..... Main reason I am having to go thru this expensive process, is because I don't have any pics of the repair process that was untaken at the time it was initially repaired, so now I am having to go thru the whole repair process again & provide photographic evidence thru out every step :-((

So here's what's required:
1.  Have the front nose section unpicked & removed (front firewall section only) where the headlights mount.
2.  Repair any damage & respray (undo any work & redo as to provide pictures)
3.  If any parts are required, doner car & owner details must be provided, eg.. compliance plate numbers, source location etc.
4.  Once complete & pictures of the whole process are taken, it will be checked over for a road worthy, from the repair (who also used to be an inspector).
5.  Followed by an Engineering report (this is to confirm all repairs have been done to correct standard & legit).
6.  Followed by a Tier 2 inspection (repairs & evidence are inspected at Regency).
7.  Followed by a Tier 3 inspection (basically a fully road worthy inspection on entire car at Regency).
8.  If all goes well, I then can take all required paperwork to the motor registration office & new plate, registered in my name & get it back on the road. \

Here's a pic of the car when it was damaged.

Great stuff Mike.   Use plenty of paint for Regency.   They tried to give me a bad time with one of my semi tankers but they ended up waiving the inspection fee as I was able to convince four of their inspectors that all was in order.
More Rev 5 cars needed in the club too.   Certainly looks a nice car and very low kms.   Cheers.   Doug.
