Smoke will be normal after I did mine it dd it for a few hours until all the oil had burnt away from the exhaust
But leaks aren't normal they cleaned it down everywhere

I'd say
What's happened since it was leaking really bad
Should have seen you dizzy and starter was covered in oil
Since the pressure can't squeeze it out of those gaps anymore

It was either one still not fixed and leaking from there or two more likely is its found somewhere else to leak from
But see how it goes and bring it back if it persists
The guy who did it is a bit- not the best mechanic
Maybe ask for someone else to have a look at it if it has to come back

Sorry meant to say
It would have found somewhere else to leak since that was the biggest gap to leak from and has no been sealed off so the oil pressure has forced it out somewhere else perhaps

Actually I have read the odd thread where others have had same same for a period of time.
We'll see what the tax man gives me.  If there's any left over after gearbox

How bad is the gearbox? There's more than a few of us who just grew used to a little notchiness, just time the shifts better.

Actually it's not too bad really.  I hardly ever crunch now.  Maybe on the next run I'll get someone to have a look/drive & see what ya reckon.

now they tell me she's leaking from the sump.  He actually took me out to the workshop where she was up on the hoist & showed me.
So she's in again next wednesday.  Another $250.00.  She's worth it tho.  Originally he said they'd do their best to catch the oil that's there because it's almost new anyway, but then changed his mind & said they'd put new stuff in without charging me.
He said the only thing needed was sealant.  Is that right?
I didn't have the courage to say to him that I wanted a more senior mechanic next time tho.

hey,  yeah only sealant used, some have sump gaskets but mr2 does not.
just sealant, i guess it could be leaking slightly and now is comming out more due to not being able to get out from the rocker cover?
but it dosnt look like a big job for 250$
then again im not a mehanic.
Drop the sump, clean it, sealant= put sump back on; but who knows i dont have the bgb to tell me whats involed in resealing a sump.

but just ring him and ask him to put someone else on it.
i cant ask that its not my car. :)

at least your mr2 will have had a good flush of fresh oil ahahah

just ran some numbers
and its a decent price,
the sealant is 50$
plus oil, apparently jarrods boss said he has to charge for oil, thus why its 250$  plus labour, not to bad, of course its not hard basic no how could do it yourself and save 150$
but nevermind, at least with toyota your guranteed it will be done right if not the first time they will fix it and make sure its not leaking elsewhere :)

but looks like this will fix your leaks.
