Shaz
Thanks M. Haven't seen you on here for ages.
Hi Shaz,
Yeah, been off spending money on the house rather than the car.......that is what you get when you own vintage possessions!
I suspect that only Toyota will have the target wheel alignment data, unless they have an agreement with independent alignment specialists.
I agree with Reddtarga though, keep an eye on your tyre wear.......typically the inside of the rear tyres, it is the first place to wear as the engine load is over the rear wheels, hence Reddtarga's suggestion about swapping sides. I have worn tyres down to the canvas on the inside once before......a lack of tyre wear attention on my part......thankfully, I noticed it before the rubber became to weak, it was only a Sunday car at that point in its life and wasn't exposed to regular day-to-day driving.
If you get uni-directional tyres you wouldn't be able to do this, so keep to bi-directional when purchasing any in the future........unless you have money to burn rubber!
From past experience with 20 y.o. cars, ball joints can usually make wheel alignments difficult if they are near the end of their life (my first car was a 1971 Toyota Corona with this problem). I have replaced the front ball joints on the baby last year, and am just about to do my rears lower ball joints on Monday/Tuesday.
You may like to consider a wheel balance, alignment and tyre side swap (if bi-directional) every 6 months to prolong the life of your tyres.
Your baby is looking good..........should be even more fun to drive now that you have the new shoes.
Cheers, M
