when using a pecentage , it has to be based on a permament vaue, number etc you cant just say add 5%
its either add 5% of 1 litre or 5% of a full tank or 5% of the carton contents etc
you have to have a base figure to measure the amount of % from

anyway
im thinking muman means per litre which in our case is 2.75 litres for a whole tank which im willing to try out

see what happens

Yes exactly. I was referring to the marketing claims of some suppliers. In the case of shell, they released optimax as being 100 RON with the inclusion of 5% E(100) which no doubt led to V-Power. So obviously 95%ULP/5%E(100) in that case achieved 100 RON, according to shell.
If i had to 'guess' what level of bio-flex would make an appreciable difference to Ign tuning at least, on the stock ECU, after all the messing around with the stuff, I'd say 5-6lts in a gen2 should show appreciable gains. In a gen3 I'm not sure..need to run some lower concentrations to gauge the effects.

The MON rating, being closer to an actual useable octane level, rather than a research rating, is much closer (98) to the target level (100) than the petrol rating (89). Doesn't change anything, just gets it in better perspective.
That alcohol smell is very addictive..

purple5ive, the whole point of percentages is that they DON'T have to be based on a permanent value.  The value that something is a percentage of is based on each specific situation.  In the case of blending 5% ethanol, that means 5% of the total fuel quantity.  It doesn't matter if the total quantity is 10 litres, or 278,000 litres, you still need 5% ethanol to achieve the same result.  In the case of 10 litres, that's 500ml of ethanol and 9.5l of petrol, for 278,000 litres you'd need 13,900 litres of ethanol and 264,100 litres of petrol.  Both situations are 5% but with very different base amounts.

I've missed a lot, and havent read over all of it in much detail, but i just thought i would share these links as well.

United claim to have a Premium 100 which uses less than 10% ethanol. (which seems to follow with what MuMan was saying as well)

Zmit: nice link to United, and timely too.
Thats great news. 10% in a nice package, if it's what they claim, and with corrosion inhibitors. That is definitely worth a try, might be a good base to work from when looking at 80/20 too, or higher.

collin - i guess i worded it wrong (PERMANENT) what you said makes sense and probably is how i should have worded it

zmit - good find on the 100ron but dont have it anywhere near me so im not happy lol

im going to try a blend of 50 litres 98ron and 5 litres of E85 and see if that works

"premium100 is currently only available in Albury & Bayswater in Victoria and now Blacktown (Sunnyholt Rd), NSW. "

purple5ive - thats probably a good starting point, and you should notice an appreciative difference... I did!

car is now much smoother to drive and pulls harder
have now 10psi insted of 9psi
ive driven around 125ks since and cars driving beautifully
EGT gauge was reading a little bit lower cant remeber how much now
also seems to start better.
ill be keeping an eye on it to see any furthere changes.

I don't think they would put these locations up for no reason though...

Thanks for that ZMIT! That Pennington site is just down the road from my work!

So this obviously has changed things, no mixing or stuffing around with this fuel as its only 10% ethanol just fill up and GO!
