That aluminum fire sleeve doesn't do very much. Better off wrapping the fire sleeve with exhaust wrap over it. The fire sleeve will probably melt or have holes burnt in it at the next track event. Going cast iron manifold will solve all your heat issues. Also have a check from underneath where your clutch lines are running, you will need of wrap them in exhaust wrap if near the manifold or eventually when the clutch fluid gets a bit old it will boil. Running a duct from under the car to blow air on the whole manifold is helpful too.

Some unfortunate dipstick location isn't it...

I did some practice at Sydney Motorsport Park on Thursday, and I am happy to say that the car went very well. I got a chance to really get a good feel for the car, and was progressively pushing harder through turn 1, which makes a big difference to lap times. I'm happy to say that the car now feels awesome, and I can't really fault anything with it. The handling is great, the brakes are great, and the power is great. It was a hot day (31), so the power was down a bit. I'm looking forward to driving on a cool day.
I did have one slight problem where the engine protection was coming in too early - i.e. it was going into limp mode. A quick tweak with the laptop fixed that.
My first event in the CAMS NSW Supersprint series is later this month, and I'm really looking forward to it. I'll have a fresh set of soft compound tyres on it, so I'm hoping that I will be able to get some great lap times.
Here's a recent tour of the car, and also with some Eastern Creek in-car video towards the end -

I've now fitted the 18x11 wheels on the rear, and I have been considering what I should do for the front.

What I currently have is 17x9 with 245x40x17, and I have limited semi slick tyre options. The offset is +45mm and I have 40mm spacers fitted.
I thought about getting a pair of wheels made for the front that are the exact size needed, and match the rears, which are Forgestar CF5 deep concave.
When I bought the rears, they included a pair of 18x10 +11mm wheels that match, though they weren't the size and offset that I wanted.
After a lot of calculating and pondering, I have decided to use the 18x10 Forgestars on the front with a 265x35x18 tyre. Most of the semi slick manufacturers make this size. I will need to use a 20mm spacer for them to clear the coilovers.
They will stick out by another 26.7mm, and although I have a lot of space under the flares, I will need to cut more material away from the front of the arch so that the tyre will clear it when turning.
There will be a bit of Glengineering required, though it shouldn't be too much of a stuff up.
This will be the first time that I have had a matching set of wheels!
I love the look of the Forgestars, though I'm worried that they'll make my brakes look small.
That's all for now. I'll provide an update after my 24th of March Supersprint.
I have borrowed a mate's GoPro Hero5, so look forward to seeing some 4K in-car video.

Great Video Glenn, I believe you would have the fastest Mr2 track car in the land of Aus. Well done!

I improved my best again at SMSP Gardner circuit yesterday. It was a hot day again (over 30 degrees), so getting a great time just wasn't to be. I got my best time in the first session before it heated up. It was a 1m45.1s. I actually did two laps with that time in a row. I nearly got a low 44s lap (see the video) though the engine overheated which needed me to make an emergency pit stop. I ended up fixing it at the track, and the cause ended up being an electrical problem. It's complicated, though the root cause was a wiring issue that made the front cooling fans run slow, and restrict air flow.
Everything else was great. Grip was good, brakes were good etc.
It was just too bloody hot. I usually hate Winter, though I am looking forward to it meaning that I can improve my lap times significantly.
Here's the video of my "nearly" fast lap.
