How do you find the seats?

I drove a 2010 a lot when my partner had one and the lack of adjustments made for a very sharp ride feel.

The seats are pleasantly snug with the side bolstering but I do find them on the firmer side. The seat adjustment seems pretty good. I haven't done any long continuous driving over a number of hours yet for long term comfort.

I have been slowly cleaning the car and finished up the exterior detail with two coats of wax today. Interior tidy up next. It hasn't seen much use since getting the VW daily driver last month.

The VW got it's first modification. I updated the VW headunit for a touch screen with bluetooth and android auto / carplay unit. I Love it. It was the one thing it was missing and it's improved the car 10 fold. I always desired android auto for the SW20 but couldn't bring myself to remove the original unit. I still have a few things to touch up on the VW, next on the list is give it a full detail and attempt ceramic coating for the first time.

I wasn't going to replace the original headunit in mine, but unfortunately (thankfully?) it died in transit.

I did spend about an hour testing it with a multimeter while it was half disassembled before I asked myself what I was really doing it for and promptly ordered a much more featured replacement for it.

The detail pops, I think yours is certainly one of the cleanest looking w20s around here.

Exactly, if my original died I would be buying a modern headunit with out question. Something similar to the Sony AX100 would be perfect.

Thanks mate! There are lots of clean MR2s hiding out there. Keeping on top of super red paint and not letting it deteriorate is so important. It will be easier now with the car not being exposed to the elements throughout the work day.

On that note, I wanted to drive the MR2 to work on Friday with the targas off, pack my work gear in... turn the key. Dead. Zero. Nothing. Haha. Pay back for not enjoying it. Checked my logs and battery was replaced 5 years ago, I will drop in a new battery next week and perhaps pick up a maintenance charger.

Looks shmick, good result.

I feel the pain of looking after a red car, mine is more in the "has deteriorated" category.

New battery always has that nice result of cranking strong, almost feels like a mod when I fit one.

Flat battery?
Maybe consider one of the Ctek smart chargers.
For convenience I have one permanently mounted and connected in the frunk, an MXS 3.8
The routine is:
Arrive home, pop the frunk, plug in the power lead, and leave it.
Battery is always fully charged, even if you leave the car weeks without use.

Of course you don't have to mount the unit permanently in the car, because these units have a quick connect plug that connects to the battery without having to move the spare.

Thanks Adam. The best thing about detailing red paint is that you can see the results of all your hard work. It's very rewarding at the end of it. You will probably be surprised with the result you can achieve with the red, even if it's on the faded side it can still shine up. Rain cover on the engine lid is a good example on page 17. Definately got to be careful with how much paint is left and not be overally aggressive. I'm looking forward to the strong crank again.

Great charging set up, Ian! I keep you posted on what I decide to do. The car isn't getting much use with all the cancelled events and travel restrictions.

I purchased a new battery and picked up the CTEK MXS 5.0 charger over a month ago for the MR2. It has been happily sitting on charge. For the first time it has started gathering dust from sitting unused...

During the May long weekend I did a full detail on the VW to restore and protect the red paint. It ended up being a 2+ day effort. Instead of wax, I wanted to try my hand at ceramic coating. This was mainly for the claimed extra durability. It was easy to apply and wipe off however good lighting is essential to 100% make sure it’s completely levelled and wiped off or the paint could be left with minor marks that can't be removed by hand.

Stoked with the results. The photo was taken 1 month after the coating was applied.

You sure have the gift with the red paint. Really looks great. Well done.
Do you consider the VW paint to be any different (And therefore needing to use different polishing products) than the Japanese paint on our Toyotas ?
