This afternoon I made up a fire extinguisher mount. The goal was to mount it in front of the passenger seat utilising the passenger seat mounting points and retain all motion of the seat. The factory seat rail have tabs that are used for plastic trim pieces to cover the bolts which make the install a little trickier as I didn't want to modify the factory seat rail at all.  I did try slipping 3mm metal strap between the seat rail and the body but that moves the seat away from the rear mounting points. I'm very happy with the install. It feels strong, easy to access quickly, and removable to revert back to factory.

I bought a 1kg extinguisher from MSA. I would have liked something bigger but with my mounting restrictions and requirements it fitted the bill perfectly.

After standing in bunnings metal aisle for 30min, I walked out with the below to do the install.

2 x Post bracket 50x50mm Internal Fixing
1 x Aluminium Flat bar 40x3mm (1m)
1 packet of M5 x 12mm bolts (to mount the extinguisher metal holder to the aluminium flat bar)

I also used pop rivets, vice grips, drill, hacksaw and any other tools that make life easier.

Fun project for the afternoon and extra safety is always welcome.

Yep. Looks good. Just make sure the mounting could accommodate prang " G " forces. You don't want it to become a kg missile in with you. Hint. Bring it tomorrow for a trial run. See you there.

Day off work to join in on Wednesday practice day at Morgan Park Raceway. Fun track and as always a great learning experience.

It is a great track. I must come out one week. How often do you guys do this? Seems to be weekly for Doug :-)

The mid week practice days are only put on when they have enough volunteers to oversee the running of the sessions. Gotta keep an eye on the website for the next event. They aim for once a month. It was the first time for me at the track. Doug is a regular, scared off the lone kangaroo for the rest of us. Danny and Roger have been multiple times now. It was good to chase them and learn the track and build up confidence.

Fuel consumption on the day
7.54 L/100km to Morgan Park
21.12 L/100km on Track
7.29 L/100km to Home

Lumix your fire extinguisher install looks good. I like the double holding clips, and they should hold it in any accident.

Many fire extinguishers come with just one clip, and some of them are only plastic.
Here is a couple of pics of my own install. The seat can be moved forward OK.
I used 3 mm steel for the mount.

Extinguisher installs look good especially being bolt in with no drilling into the floor etc.

Someone should look to make a kit that includes the extinguisher and mount for those that cannot make it themselves?

There is. I bought and just received and fitted an extinguisher mount from MR2Heaven. In the order I included the fixing bolts and spacer for the MR2 seats

Only modification was to drill extra holes for my Quell fire extinguisher mount.
