Fantastic! Cup holders!!

Are you planning to sell these or is the design free? I'd love to get the files so I can print my own :)

Cool little design, would love to buy one if you ever decided to make a few.
Hows the placement? Does it get in the way of your legs while you're doing fully sik hektik heel-toe downshifts at all?

Once I'm happy with the final design I can release the files under a Creative Commons license.  I wasn't planning on selling any but if someone wants one I will print some up.

I did a test with a 600ml water bottle today. I didn't find it intrusive to my driving at all, it does make the cabin feel a bit smaller but it is convenient just reaching down to pick up the bottle. I will definitely try it with a larger drink and report back.

Over the last few weeks I have been tinkering with the cup holder in my spare time, experimenting with sizes and finishes.

Slimmed the design slightly and acetone vapour smoothed it. It turned out better than I thought. On a another experiment to make it smooth I started sanding at 120grit and finishing at 1200grit. It's my favourite finish but requires so much work to smooth out the layers. I will have to try a combination of both techniques and see how it looks.

Chocolate frappe test was successful

Version 3 is printed with black abs and now has two straps that cross over. I found that small bottles gradually slip out the bottom of the single strap version. Possibly could have been fixed by using a wider and thicker strap.

Excellent upgrades there. I've got to get around to getting acetone vapour smoothing myself

I just love that you can just unclip these cupholders and put them away if you don't want to have them out. Kickass

Cant wait for you to upload this.

My printer is waiting - I even have a role of bronze filament here I could use if I wanted to get fancy...

No supercharged 2GR to be found here. Only small updates that most wouldn't notice.

I recently drew up a reproduction warning sticker located on the air box. I was lucky enough to meet Hoonsy and see his Bathurst at a club event, his car still had a mostly intact sticker which allowed me to take photos and measured it up.

Reproduction

Reproduction 4-ABS sticker. The old one is baked on - going to take some gentle heating and scraping to get off. That's a job for the weekend.

Pulled off the old tatty engine hood insulator and replaced it with the new. Made a huge difference.

At the same time I cleaned up the surface rust on the strut brace and repainted it gloss black. This is how the engine bay currently stands.

Perfect time of day for a photo.

The cup holder design is at the stage that I'm happy with, been testing the latest design for the last few weeks and showed it to the Queensland club members and everyone seemed to like it. I went through a number of revisions, tweaking, testing more retweaking and retesting. I also revisited ideas such as the single strap but 23mm wider yet still had issues with small cups or 330ml bottles would slip out the side.

Final design features:ABS plastic to survive those hot summer days (fingers crossed)78mm diameter openingNeater/Slimmer designRubber insert to grip into the door card, no more electrical tape38mm webbingEyelets instead of hot glue to hold the strap together I will get some better photos over the weekend but I'm so happy with where the design has ended up.

Could you use snaps instead of eyelets to give it an adjustable depth for larger bottles?
