Hey roryh, missed you by one day. Was at the creek today. Wasn't timed but your 1:50 is a blistering time. Would love to check out your ride one day.

Thanks - In my last session I rekon I was on for a sub 1.50 but got baulked by a much slower car on the run up to turn 11 - I should have popped the lights as soon as I left the hairpin cause he didn't pick me up until too late - but anyway maybe next time.

How did you go out there today?

It was my first time tracking the car so I'll be honest and say I did pretty bad. I think I did pretty much everything wrong to begin with. Coasted into corners, too soft on the brakes, too late braking, not using enough of the road and not looking far enough.

After a few tips from the instructors, they said I had improved dramatically by the end of the day so I can only go up from here. Learnt a lot from the advance guys yesterday so keen to meet some of the other forum members here that track their cars.

PS - Had a bit of a hairy moment when I lost it on corner 4 and a very expensive track maserati was flying up behind me.

Great to see another MR2 enthusiast getting their car on track!! You have to start somewhere and all seat time builds experience so well done.

It is likely there will be a few of us back at EC on the 22nd of this month.

22nd is a Wednesday so I have to go to work. A bit too soon for me to track the car again anyways but if it was the weekend I would have just came down to watch and have a chat.

Will definitely keep my eye on these race threads and hopefully can join some of you guys on the track and learn from your experience.

Well the MR2 should be able to see a mid 1.40 time(1.44-47) at EC on a warmer day as it was cool and from what a few friends said, it was lacking grip.
Rory, your car did look good through T1 with very little movement in the chassis or unsettled suspension from where I was standing. The youtube footage was great. Very smooth driving, looks like you could have cruised around for hours at that speed without any problems!

The sporting car festival is on at Bathurst this weekend for those interested in seeing about 400 race spec sportscars hit the mountain. I dont know if any MR2 will be there but still a great place to get some ideas for budding race car builders.
