My Mista 2 - 1990 Red SW20 GT

Hey guys. Thought I'd share some pics of my car

History:

I purchased a 1990 MR2 SW20 N/A in late 2005. At the time there were very few MR2s in WA which made it very hard for me to get one. I spent a good few months looking for one and eventually decided on one from South Australia. Cost me about $1000 to get it over here. Absolutely fell in love with the car when I got it. It had a few mods including Momo Steering Wheel and Gear stick, lowering springs, air intake, and a big cannon exhaust.

Unfortunately my car ended up getting stolen one night while I was asleep. They broke in and took my car keys and gave it a good thrashing. They even held up East Vic Park Maccas, a store I used to work at and they knew my car well! I got the car back within 48 hours but the stereo system had been ripped out and all the dash was wrecked. The insurance company had to end up getting a whole new dash from Japan which took about 6 weeks.

Not long after I got it back I decided to sell it having only owned it about 9 months. I began looking for a turbo. I ended up finding one at Extreme Machines and purchased it around mid 2006.

Anyway here she is not long after I got it, completely stock except for a turbo timer which I had fitted before I purchased it.

Here's some pics after only having it a few months. I had installed :
• Momo Steering Wheel
• Momo Gear Stick
• Apexi Turbo Timer
• Immobiliser and alarm

I took the 17 inch mags from my previous MR2. Not sure what brand they are. They look like the 17" Volk Racing F-Zero Challenge Rims. Does someone know?

Plus Stereo System:

• Alpine CDA-9855R MP3 Headunit with iPod connector
• Alpine 10” SWS-1022D Subwoofer
• 5 ¼ MBQuart front splits
• Alpine MRV-F545 Amplifier

    I then changed the tail lights to the 94+ type.

    I then got Midnight Express Tinting but they wouldn't do the Targa Roof Panels.. the guy claimed he'd done some in the past and they later cracked. Anyone heard of this? H

    ere's a pic of my car that was used in a wedding! No.. is wasn't mine!

    I then installed some later model front clear indicators:

    Here's a few pics from the cruise at the start of February this year. I had just installed a genuine 93+ front lip. It hadn't been painted the right colour yet...

    And today I just picked up my car after having a replica Tom's Side Skirts and Rear bar fitted and painted, as well as respraying a few other panels. I'm pretty happy with it but it was bloody expensive considering the car didn't get a full respray..

    Yeah I do plan on lowering it but I'm not sure whether to just get lowering springs or coilovers. I've done a bit of reading in the "Suspension" forums and haven't heard too many good reviews for any of Pedder's springs or G4 coilovers.. If anyone has any suggestions on what I should get that'd be great! I'm in WA.

    I purchased my front lip from Toyota Fremantle. Cost me about $330. I did find one on eBay second hand awhile ago but it wasn't in very good condition and didn't come with the retainers you need.

    MM that is quite nice. I like your steering wheel for sure. I can't seem to get my tray under the headunit to sit flush. Guys at Gold Coast Car Sound couldn't seem to find out either [x2x] Red goes faster too

    Well I thought it was about time for an update.

    My car's been in Tristan's workshop for a month and I've just gotten it back. The car's had a fair bit of work done and needless to say, it wasn't cheap:

    * Gearbox overhaul - new synchros gears 1 - 4, new shaft bearings, and also had to get a new housing as the previous one was cracked :(
    * New clutch
    * Suspension - koni yellow inserts and eibach pro-kit springs
    * Timing belt and service

    Car is driving a lot better now, especially with my new suspension and being able to change gears smoothly (no crunching to 2nd!)

    Anyway here's some pics I took today after a wash and polish:

    Also installed my gas strut that I got from a Twos R Us group buy recently.

    Still have a bit of trouble getting the engine lid to pop up since installing the fans. It was actually working for a few goes before I hooked up the temp sensor thing to the underside of the engine lid again!

    I had the same trouble after doing my fans as well, had to pull the lid up at the same time as the lever.
    I replaced the spring in the latch with a stronger one and now it works fine. It was just because the little extra weight wouldn't allow it to pop up
