EOI: Wilwood front brake kit
For Sale: SOLD!Wilwood front brake kit with 310mm rotors (vented, slotted and cross-drilled), 4 piston callipers, and dogbone mounting brackets to suit SW20. NOTE: if you don't have 17 inch or 18 inch wheels, you should refer to my dimensioned photos later in this thread, to determine if your wheels will fit over the brake kit. Until the items have been removed from the car, this will be an EOI phase. I'm looking for at least $500 for the pair of rotors, callipers, dogbones, and brake pads (I don't even know what the pads are TBH, I haven't had to change them yet, but there is a fair bit of life left in them). Let me know if you're interested, thanks guys!

I believe it's the lack of dust boots. These brakes would be great for a track car, but they would also be suitable for anyone who isn't concerened with the lack of dust boots on their street car. I would have got away with it forever, but it was discovered while the rest of my car was being engineered.

Very good value IMO considering the prices of a new setup. I've had the Nissan 4pots and Lexus rotors sitting here for a good 2-3months now and haven't put them on yet. You will probably have your setup on before mine so I'll be very interested in how they perform. Also - is your car currently running the stock m/c or was this changed when the Wilwoods were put on?

If MRC hadn't already sourced the Nissan callipers and Lexus rotors, you and I could have done a straight swap lol. Although you probably still have every intention of fitting the parts you have there, and just haven't had time or whatever. jdmr288 Also - is your car currently running the stock m/c or was this changed when the Wilwoods were put on? This is one of the many things that I don't know about my car (due to the previous owner doing a lot of the mods to the car), but I really should find out. If only I was on the forums when I first got the car, I would have been compelled to find out a lot more info about it at the time.

I believe the cylinder bore size of the MC is cast into the bore, under the reservoir from memory?

Will be interesting to see if it's the stock one. I still don't know whether to go the 1" bore or not...I do like a firm pedal but some others have said a stock m/c works fine with larger calipers. And yes I'll still be putting these bad boys on the car - just need the motivation to do it - fitting the parts won't be an issue...bleeding the brakes will be.

why dont you just change them while you get your car engineered and then put them back on later, no one that pulls you over will know if you have brake dust boots or not

I'm trying to avoid the need to 'undo' any changes I make once it's engineered. That's just another hassle. That's why I'm changing to another decent kind of setup, so I'll still be happy with it.

a little off topic but: 1) can you get wilwoods WITH dust boots? 2) what rear brakes are you running? 3)(more off topic) why does your car need engineering? 4) how much is it costing you? mines a personal import so doesn't need to conform to ADR's... and i can just say everything was on it when it came in and got it's import plates.... i just can't sell it :)

TRD2000 1) can you get wilwoods WITH dust boots?
I think they released dust boot callipers fairly recently. I don't know if you're asking from your point of view or from mine, but from my point of view I wouldn't wanna risk the engineer saying no because they are still Wilwoods. TRD2000 2) what rear brakes are you running?
Again, I didn't do the mods myself, but the rears are aftermarket discs of some sort (slotted and dimpled), still with SW20 callipers. I'm not sure if they are the stock 1990/1991 rear callipers, or if they were changed to the later SW20 callipers. This is one of the many things that I want to check once I have proper access to my car again. TRD2000 3)(more off topic) why does your car need engineering?
It's all described in my showroom thread, but basically the RTA have been cracking down on fraudulent engineers certificates and 'compliance' documentation upon importation of vehicles, and they discovered that a previous owner of my car obtained a fraudulent engineers certificate (when the car was imported I think). As a result I have to get the whole car engineered myself, because it was never done properly as it should have been by the previous owner. Of couse, I modified the car heaps before discovering all this! If the RTA never made the discovery, I may have got away with it forever and never had the car engineered (which is why the Wilwoods have remained on the car until now). Oh well, I'll be happy to have the peace of mind of an engineers certificate at the end of all this. TRD2000 4) how much is it costing you?
The whole engineering process, or just changing the brakes? I'm not sure how much the engineering will end up costing in total (including the mods required to pass), I'm sure it will be alot, but relatively minor compared to the amount I've spent on engine mods over the last year. As for the front brakes, I think it will be about $1k for the new parts, plus labour, and I'll get back a fair chunk of that by selling the Wilwoods.

The larger brake rear calipers have the letters V22 (or 22V) cast into them. TRD2000 mines a personal import so doesn't need to conform to ADR's... and i can just say everything was on it when it came in and got it's import plates.... i just can't sell it :)
Why cant you sell it? My first MR2 was a personal import, had a yellow compliance plate (instead of green one) and on the rego papers it listed the ADRs it was exempt from. Cheers
