i didnt. Turns out its still cheaper to get it made. added benefits of warranty etc..

Ill eventually get a better exhaust system but it should be better than stock as it is now anyway.

so i had a dyno session today at stz automotive with my current motor with just exhaust and filter.

119.9hp (90kw) at the wheels at ~6600rpm in 4th gear at something like 190kmph.

Ill upload the graph later on in my build thread

looks like a good base motor!

hmmmm, tough decision. can't tell by pics but normally hurricane headers aren't mandrel bent. also they're originally designed for the 5sfe. i wonder if they'll make much diff to the stock gen2 headers.

but they're cheap from memory compared to genie's, but if you have to pay an exhuats shop to match it up to the rest of your system maybe genies/ones spec for the mr2 would be better.

Does the 5sfe head have the same ports as the 3sge?
The stock headers are a fairly good design anyway and those headers may be no better than what you have now, and they are designed for a different motor anyway.

I have Fujitsubo headers that are custom designed for the gen2 3sge and they really do make a difference to my stock motor.
I couldn't say how they would work on a motor with high lift cams, but they should be very good because they have very well designed even length primary pipes, and larger diam compared to the stock headers.
You can see that the no 4 pipe crosses over instead of the no 1.
Also gives a lot more clearance for the oil filter (fit larger filter), great if you have a sandwich plate.

Ive found a set of genies for the 3sge.

Ill just try them because its cheap enough and should fit properly.

What were they from originally? Gen 1 3sge? Why wouldn't they fit?

it was from a gen1 3sge. But the bends in the pipe would interfere with my engine mount and it comes down to sharp, close to the block. If that makes sence.

The bolt patern to the head was exactly the same though, but the bottom part was not.
