Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm in Strathfield, but I can travel to anywhere in Sydney, Central Coast, Newcastle or Wollongong for pickup. I'm happy to pay for shipping if any of the items are only available further away.

I'll take the car to one of Just Car's preferred repairers this week and get a quote. After I find out how much higher it is than my excess, then I'll decide whether to make an insurance claim. The problem is that I don't easily trust anyone to work on my car haha, unless it's a job that I wouldn't be willing to do myself (in this case I could do it myself, apart from the painting). I'd prefer for the insurance to just pay for the parts, but of course there are liability issues if the repairer doesn't install the parts themselves.

You also have to consider the effect it will have on your premium next year, and if you change insurers, you will be penalized also. If your excess is 600 and it costs you 1k to replace it all yourself, you would be better off to pay for it out of your own pocket, since your premium will probably go up 10%-20% from there on. Plus doing it yourself you can tidy things up :)
