MR2 Club NSW - Toyota MR2 30th Anniversary Event - 28th of June

 
This year marks 30 years since the AW11 Toyota MR2 was first available for sale back in 1984, so the MR2 Club of NSW has decided to host an event and celebrate this milestone for the car and marque that we love!

2014 will also be the 25th anniversary of the SW20 (first launched in 1989) and the 15th anniversary of the ZZW30 (launched in 1999) MR2's, so it's a special year no matter which model you own and love!

The activities for the day will start with a cruise, our convoy of MR2's driving over the Anzac and Sydney Harbour bridges after which we will then head out to Al Palmer Repairs in Penrith, where we will have a BBQ lunch and MR2 Show n Shine from midday. 

We will have trophies for the best MR2's of the day, as well as other prizes and giveaways, stay tuned for more info as we get closer to the event.

It is scheduled for the weekend after the event hosted by the MR2 Owners Club of Australia - VIC Branch, so you won't miss out on either if you were planning to head south of the border for the Vic event.

This will be an day not to be missed, so clear the date in your schedule now!

We are thrilled to announce that our good friends at Gorilla Industries have come on board as a sponsor for our event!
The boys have kindly donated a massive $150 voucher to be used towards the purchase of anything they sell, which will be drawn in a special raffle on the day for entrants in our Show and Shine - you gotta be in it to win it!

 
Our trophies for the day are all ready to go, there will be 6 trophies up for grabs for the cars in the Show and Shine, with everyone having the opportunity to take one home. 
There will be two trophies for each generation of MR2 (AW11, SW20 & ZZW30), with a trophy for the best standard and best modified example of each.
 
The meetup location for our morning cruise will be Maliyawul Street in Lilyfield at 9:30am; this is a small street along the water next to Iron Cove, where we'll all meet and take some pics before we depart at approximately 10:00am for Al Palmers.

The anniversary event is exactly one month away!
All the committee members are excited and working towards putting on a great day for the MR2 community, but we need your help to make this day as big as we can!

If you know of anyone with an MR2 please tell them about it, and get them along for the day. The entry for the show and shine is only open to Toyota MR2 bodied vehicles, whether it be stock standard, modified, an all out race car or anything in between - but anyone is welcome to come along for a look and be part of the festivities on the day.

The show and shine will be free for financial club members, and will be $10 for non members that wish to enter their cars. You can also sign up to be a club member on the day (or any time before the event) and take advantage of the free entry. We will also have a BBQ on the day, which will be free for members and show entrants, with snags and drinks $1 each for spectators.

The cruise to start the day will commence at approximately 10:00am, meeting from 9:30am in Lilyfield - stay tuned for updates on the cruise soon!

We'd like to make special mention of our largest sponsor for the event, Al Palmer Repairs in Penrith. Al has kindly offered up his time and his workshop carpark for the afternoon to host our show and shine. Al has also reached out to his contacts at Toyota and gotten hold of some items to be given away on the day!

I'm interested. Can I bring my ST205?

Yep you can definitely bring the ST205 along, however the show and shine will only be for MR2's - does it have a towbar so you can bring the race car? :)

Can I park it with the MR2s? I'm sure people will want to look at it. I don't want to enter the show and shine (I'm assuming it's a competition).
It's rare to see one of these so I'd like to join in.
