WOW!!!  What a day.  Now that I have settled down, I can think straight enough to write a few thankyous.  The final “Official” count for the day is 92.  That’s counting an AW11, parked out of sight.  The owner wouldn’t bring it in because he said his was “too rough”, and an iridescent green SW20 that drove past, turned around, and drove away.

What Perfect Weather for June in Melbourne, the Gods were kind to us, I know my knees will take some time to recover after all the praying!!!

We well and truly SMASHED the record and I also think we also put the VIC MR2 Club on the Map, hopefully it will result in many new members.  Time will tell.

None of it would have happened without loads of support along the way.  From the beginning Stephen and Craig liaising with Toyota and our proposal for merchandise and that fabulous events trailer that Craig picked up and returned.  Thanks Steve and Craig.

To “my” Committee and all your support, thankyou.  What a privilege it is to work with a such great bunch of people, who all get on well, and who spend loads of time supporting a great one make car club and organising events for the members’ enjoyment.  Thankyou.

To all the workers who turned up early to help set up, thankyou.  Special mentions to Colin, ably assisted by Nicole and family, organising the Club merchandise and money on the day.  Thankyou.  To our “Chef” Mark and his kitchen staff who slaved over a hot BBQ all morning, your team win the MKR award hands down!!!  Thankyou.

To all the workers who personned the gate all morning, thankyou.  Special thanks to Anthony who not only produced our 30th Anniversary Logo stickers, but also handed them out as people arrived.  Thankyou Anthony.

To all the people who parked cars all morning, thankyou.  Special mention to Luan whose inventive parking plan saved the day as MR2s just kept arriving.  Thankyou.

To Brendan and Andrew for the effort gone to, to bring in their MR2 on flatbeds.  That “effort” is very much recognised.  Thankyou.

To everyone who turned up in their MR2s, Club members, Forum members, Herald-Sun readers, FaceBook fans, thankyou.  Without your support and love for the MR2 the day would not have happened.

To everyone who sold raffle tickets all morning, thankyou.  Special mention to Robert and Marion, it is not easy asking people to dig deep and buy raffle tickets, so well done and Thankyou.

To all the people who took photos, thankyou.  Special thanks to Anthony, Brett and Kaye our official photographers.  Thankyou.  AND another big special thanks to Ross for his quad ‘copter cam and those awesome photos already posted on FaceBook,  they make the look “magic”!

To our three judges, Mark, Robert and yours truly, thankyou.  Not an easy task to pick a winner out of so many nice examples, but it was done well.  Thankyou.  And thanks to Shannons for providing the three Trophies.  Congratulation to the winners.

To our Sponsors, Toyota, Shannons, Zenki Wear and The Buzz for adding to make the event something special.  Thankyou.

To everyone who stayed behind to help pack up.  A GREAT BIG THANKYOU!!!

To the Alma Doepel people for making the area available with a minimum of fuss, liaising with the City of Melbourne when things could have been made more difficult, and for arriving early to open the gates for us.  Thankyou.  Thanks also for saving my bacon, by stopping me being “thrown in” (Robert – I was never going to jump in!).  At the end of the day we were able to donate $800 toward the restoration of the Alma Doepel. Great effort everyone.

Can’t forget Tom & Dawni for allowing me to drive their Spyder in to the event.  My thinking was, if we get 64 MR2s at least Dawni’s MR2 would equal the record.  Thanks.  And also thanks to Anthony and Martin for driving my two MR2s in.

And last but probably the most important, thankyou to Carol who for the last 3 months has put up with my endless hours of planning and worrying about the 30th Anniversary of the MR2 “EVENT”!!!!  THANKYOU!!!

Congratulations to everyone ….. you all really made my day!!  :-)

I knew I would probably forget someone, it happens every time you thank people. Mark reminded me that we also owe the success of the 30th Anniversary Event to Bryan Dimuaunahan whose support and continued posting on our web site and on FaceBook added to the success, and to the large number of MR2s that attended. Thanks Bryan.

And the acknowledgements continue ....... A great big thank you to our esteemed VIC MR2 Club Editor, Ian Morrison who endlessly promoted the 30th Anniversary Event on this Forum. Thankyou! I'm sure that Ian's efforts resulted in us smashing our record also!

Don't Forget Joel the NSW Club president, I think he and his missus aussiespyder were the furthest travelled to get there.

Anyone travel further for the event?

Unfortunately the only way I was going to have my car there for the event was a case of redbull non stop driving at undisclosed speeds to be there an back to work today or the $2370 car return transport fees.. Yes I did get a quote to consider haha
Was well worth the flight down meet some Vic members and check out some sweet looking MR2's given me some ideas :-? was well organised.. Hopefully the 2015 MR2 nationals in Qld attracts as large turnout :-)
