My plan is to leave Newcastle around 11ish on Sunday.  Take the M1 to Sydney & then this scenic route.
Anyone want to join me?  Open to changes, but don't want to miss the Sea Cliff Bridge.

Google says it is about 6 hours driving time from Newy.  So with some short stops for pics I'm guessing i'd arrive at Wakefield sometime between 6 & 7.

The trip sounds good Shaz. You will be exhausted by the time you arrive!
Rob, you don't have to rev past 6000 to have a great time. Just drive like its a mountain run without the fear of 'boys in blue', trees or any other nasty's. That includes the stereo pumping if that's your thing.

YEs I know the title is a little controversial but it was aimed at getting people sitting on their hands to get on board. I'm happy with the numbers but a few more will allow for a driving instructor. to help with presentations/ pep talk before we hit the track.
It looks like Mike Navybox will provide a talk for us.
A driver who has just returned from racing oversea's may also be coming along to help with car set up and great stories about racing in the ALMS over a beer on the Monday night.

Finally, yes the event is 100% going ahead. I will be paying for the event on the 16th December.

Don't forget your camera's!

Nah,  all good.  According to google it's around 370k.  I did about 500 when I did the Putty Road run with the club a couple of months ago.
Altho I might retire for the evening earlier than the rest of you, lol.

This is not an official part of the MR2 2014 Challenge but Steve asked me to talk to ex racer Garry Willmington who owns and operates the Marulan Driver Training Centre to see if there was a chance of using the track on Wednesday January 8.

For the diehards who won't be satisfied even after 2 great days at Wakefield on the Monday and Tuesday of of the MR2 2014 Challenge, there is an opportunty to have an additional day at the Marulan Driver Training Centre Track. The track is only  30 minutes drive from Wakefield.

Garry has amended his new year calendar to Make Wednesday January 8 a "Drive Your Own Car Day" at the track. Bookings are essential. Costs and other details are available on the MDTC website MDTC.com.au

Immaculate facilities and a quality canten as well. If you are already a long way from home, why not take the chance to add this interesting little track to your trackday experiences.

Quite a few forum members have already been there and had a great time.

Hi, I am thinking about doing this, but I am not sure. Just recently bought the sw20 and I haven't been driving it all that much, so I am wondering if it's the right time for me to be doing this (try to walk before you try to run :) ). I did a little bit of auto-cross back in the US, but never a full track; so a little bit worried of trashing a car I just bought.

Also, what kind of security equipment are required? Eg: racing suit? helmet? fire extinguisher, roll cage, etc...?
Apologies if it's been mentioned already but I couldn't find that info on the first few pages or the website.

Hey Alex,

The best advice I can give is to drive your car the way you would on a spirited drive. If you don't overdrive it, it will be ok. The hillclimb lasts for 60 seconds, the tarmac stage is under 2 min with a break between runs, the clubman sessions are 6 minute sessions, the other sessions are longer but as I say, drive within the car and yourself and you will have a great time.
I would suggest new oil, decent pads and a good quality brake fluid but I am sure you know te drill with this.
Requirements for drivers/passengers
must have ankle to wrist clothing and helmet. There are 12 helmets available for hire at the track.

Cheers
