Senol's V6 SW20

My 1990 ADM SW20
So I've owned this since 2009.
Recently started taking it to tracks like lakeside & Queensland Raceway.

Quaife ATB differential (QDF21E)

Now for first impressions on the quaife as im sure some of you are eager to hear.

Before I had this differential fitted I had understeer problems around tight corners/sharp turns, the Quaife has almost entirely eliminated this problem due to power being transferred to the outside wheel instead of the inside wheel. (This could also have been improved with better tires).

The car feels extremely solid through corners, although being an MR2 it was never bad in the corners. When the rear steps out it is very predictable as long as you don't let off the throttle, because if you do, the heavy end goes first. There is no pre-load on the differential so its a very smooth and quiet transfer of power to the wheels.

When you are driving normally, you can't even feel that the differential is non-standard. It makes absolutely no noise. I could not be happier with my purchase and I highly recommend it to anyone whether it be a turbo or not.

Modifications suspension/drivetrain:
BC gold coilovers
Quaife ATB
R32 GTR Rear + R32 GTS-T wheels
Federal 595RS-R's
EBC Yellowstuff brake pads front and rear

Engine: 1996 3VZ-FE 150kw
Drivetrain: S54 Box with Quaife LSD

I haven't been a P-plater for years now, shows how long ive had the car...

Looks the goods. Will be awesome once you get the cooling issues sorted. PLEASE get a front lip for it. I know it's not my car or money but I just can't stand seeing SW20's without the front lip.

The front lip will be one of the last things I do though. I just wan't to be able to drive it where ever I want without worrying about overheating!

if you still have the front end intact, and have all the underbody panels, just leave it alone. the bolts are all probably rusted and siezed.

The front underside plastic was ripped off when I came off the track at lakeside in the wet. The lip etc is fine it was just the plastic that got caught on the curb.

If you look hard enough. In the 5th photo in the rain, you can see it hanging down grinding on the track.

Deadlines.. If you dont have them you never get anything done.

For your cooling issues  I had a similar problem which I solved but removing the thermostat, cutting out the operating mechanism, fitting it back into place and off you go. Im lucky to see 90 degree's since.
Also try different coolants. Some are better than others.
It may be an issue with the head but if you have a rebuilt engine coming, it wont be an issue.

So the cooling issues have become worse since i removed the thermostat. There is a lot of pressure in the coolant hoses now. And I can hear it gurgle into the overflow/steam after a 20 minute drive. I have been bleeding the coolant the way the bgb tells you to.

This is probably not your issue, but generally if you want to bypass the thermostat, its better to remove the guts rather then removing the entire thermostat, as the increased water flow can mean the water does not spend enough time in the radiator to cool sufficiently.

ah ok.  see if you can find a workshop that has one of those devices that checks for combustion gases in the cooling system.    something like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/UVIEW-560000-Combustion-Leak-Tester/dp/B000NPDL76

This will easily and quickly rule out/confirm headgasket issues.
